Never heard of such a rig. I just cover mine with my hand if i can't take all the smoke at once.

I have a nice one. I fluxuate between using it and not... Learning to inhale slowly made it almost obsolete for me. They're pretty cool though. A friend gave it to me for free but I think he picked it up at a local head shop. Thing looks like stainless steel to me...
I usually just grab a random nail, like an actual nail out of my toolbox . The shatter I make is so hard and glassy I can pretty much just drop a piece on there if the rising heat doesn't melt it to my fingers

Nah, I don't touch anything hot. Just cover the top of the dome.

Highly educated nails are USA made, I have a friend who is a big fan. But they are overpriced IMO, titanium is titanium if you ask me. Every piece I have used seemed the same quality of the metal wise, but some have huge price differences.
Highly Educated nails are like 60~+ dollars I believe, or maybe thats just for a carb cap I forget.
I bought a universal nail on ebay for 20$ with free shipping, works with 14-18 male and female, so basically any bong.
I need a carb cap still though, they make low temps so nice! Been going back and forth about dabbing though, sometimes I love it other times I hate/ question it.

I sell them 5 bucks each or a bundle of 5 for 20. You just can't heat them with the torch or they turn into pumice. I've used the same ones for the last year, and every one of them is different. They are mostly self polished gem quality mahogany obsidian, and a lot of them are partially black with rainbow sheen or midnight lace when held up to the light.

Can one still heat it up quickly with a lighter to wipe it off? Or would it have to get wiped in alcohol or something instead?
I would be interested in one for sure, especially if your down to trade for one. I have lots o seeds cacti seeds, veggie seeds, flower seeds, and pepper seeds.

I'll take some pics tomorrow when the sun is up. I hate pics taken in shit lighting. They can be heated with a lighter no problem. I make pipes from obsidian too if that tells you anything. I wish they could be heated with the torch so I could make nails and domes too. I've tried with obsidian, agate, quartz, jasper and all do the same thing. Obsidian should be the closest to being able to be heated at high temps, since it's 98-99% pure silica. The trace amounts of manganese and iron are apparently enough to make it untreatable. Obsidian won't change a molecule in the hottest pit fire coals though. Agate is cooked at generally 500 to flake cleaner when used for flint knapping but there is no reason to ever treat obsidian. It was already heated much beyond it's own melting point. I actually think it's something in the butane flame that imparts oxygen, hydrogen, or some other chemical onto the surface of the obsidian causing a algorithmic breakdown.
