Saw this mutant iris on Mt. Davidson, San Francisco. It seems to be going for five-way symmetry.

I always loved this thread, and I feel it is due for a revival. I'm sure a few of you have a good backlog of non-fungal finds to show by now.

I have to credit this find to my dog:




What a sweetie! And what beautiful, wise old eyes! It casually watched the dog go absolutely nuts from its vantage point at about my head height, and was completely unfazed when I approached and photographed it. Koalas are said to be this way due to the sedative effect of their Eucalyptus leaf diet.

For those unfamiliar, the last one is a bower made by a male satin bowerbird, endemic to eastern Australia.
