My first attempt - PF Tek. Starting WBS Spawn. Considering a Shoebox.

I am new to the game and it has already been a blast. I think i'm already spending too much time reading. But it has been my desire to do this for many years.
I decided to go with PF Tek. This was suggested by many...
BRF/Verm properly PC.
On 4/24 I inoculated 12 (4oz) jars {On Accident}. I realized I made a mistake and 2 days later inoculated another 12 (1/2 Pint) jars.
So far it seems my contamination is zero. However, I do have a few jars that are colonizing a bit slow.
On 5/8 I took some pictures of the jars. You can see some that appeared to be stunted. But overall clean mycelium. No visible signs of contam.(eventually all started to show growth)

Since then I have been looking into other teks including monotub. This inspired me to start WBS spawn. So on 5/15 I decided to start a 1/2 pint WBS jar that will eventually be used for G2G.
Today 5/19 the WBS jar looks like this. I have 12 quart jars waiting for G2G and I'm sure most I'll have to use the rest of my MSS.

Last week 5/12 I noticed 6 of the 4oz Jars appeared to be fully colonized. So the timer begins for consolidation! I'm thinking of birthing them tomorrow afternoon and soak for 24 hours. What do you think?
This is what the jars look like.

I have my terrarium standing by patiently waiting for the cakes. I also have some finely ground up verm ready to go as well.

Most of the 1/2 pint jars are 90% colonized. The mycelium is starting to reach the bottom. The rest of the 4oz jars seem to be stunted a little. But are still showing growth. As well as a few of the 1/2 pints.
I am thinking I might do a 6qt shoebox with some of slow-pokes once they fully colonize. But I'm not 100% sure yet.
Seeing the inconsistency of growth makes me want to do some isolation. I might pick up an agar kit in the near future. Ideally, I would like to start a monotub with WBS. (wish I could find rye berries in my area)
Please give me your input, comments, and questions. This is my first grow and I appreciate any and all help.

Haha yes. It's nice when someone does their own research and isn't looking to be spoon fed everything.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY! My Little 4oz cakes!

They are so tiny! I really question how much they will produce. Has anyone experimented with 4oz cakes?
The 1/2 pints still seem to have another 3-4 days of colonization and a week of consolidation. But I might turn those into spawn for a shoebox. I already have the verm, coir, gymsum, and a bit of spent coffee grounds.
What do you think?

Since it is my first grow shouldn't I stick to PF Tek? How would you suggest I go about it? There are only 7 cakes birthed. I would guess closer to 3 oz per cake because of the dry layer. So somewhere around 21-24 oz give or take.
I don't mind doing a shoebox or something similar. The other cakes should be done soon anyway.

Here are some pictures of the cakes in the terrarium.

Now the waiting game for the pins!
Side note. The WBS seems to be colonizing very fast! I ended up having to shake them this morning because it looked close to like 40%. I will need to prep the jars here soon for G2G.

I accidentally bought the 4oz jars for my first grow. They'll be fine but yes they are small. Do a mono tub next. You'll be glad you left cakes behind. You can grate the cakes and mix with bulk sub and do a mono with those but watching the shrooms grow is fun.

Wowzers. Checked on my WBS 1/2 pint this morning and the Myc seems to have gone to town. Check it out. I just shook these yesterday morning!

Good thing I'm in the process of preparing my jars for G2G!
Does this look good enough to do a G2G? or should I wait a bit?
I was also wondering if this is normal growth rate for WBS. Yes, it does have some corn in it. I thought I got a bag that didn't have the corn but was mistaken when I got it home. Maybe the MSS is a good colonizer. "FA" which leads me to believe its "fatass"? I am super excited for a monotub.

Alright! Time for an update. Since birthing, I have been misting/fanning faithfully 4-5 times a day. I do a quick fan, mist, then a heavy fanning afterwards. The humidity shows a consistent 95%. But I am also using a cheap petco hydrometer...so who knows...
This afternoon after doing my final mist/fan, I noticed my first couple Pins! I am seeing some knots as well. I am super excited for the next week or so! I'll be sure to give updates.

Yesterday, the WBS was 100% colonized so I proceeded to do a G2G. I'm not very certain it will work out since I don't have a flowhood. But I did my best in a glovebox. So we will see how it turns out. My experienced friend told me almost all of his G2G without a flow hood was an epic failure. So I guess I'll hope the best.

I've only had one contam out of 2 dozen doing G2G in a SAB. You'll be fine.

Here is an update. Not sure if these look 100%. I think my room temps might be a little low so I set a room heater to 71. (nowhere near the terrarium)

It has been a while since I gave an update on my projects. I've been dealing with kidney stones and busy with personal stuff.
Overall the 4 oz cakes yields were ok. I still have a couple of them giving me a few pins but overall they are spent. I got a little over 8g dried out of all of them. Here are a few pictures of the last ones I was dealing with.

I also had a few mutant mushrooms. Weird ball like formation.

Half way through I decided to do a 6QT tub "bulk". I took about 1.2 QT of cake and used as spawn for the 6QT tub. I properly pasteurized the substrate and put the tub into colonization and waited patiently. A week later I checked on the tub and it appeared all good! So I put it into fruiting.
A handful of days later I started to see some pins! Along with a ton of knots.

Another handful of days later the fruits started to mature beautifully. Of course, since I used MS and I didn't do any casing my pinset was a bit uneven. But that is ok. Just makes me look forward to working with some agar in the near future.

The next day or so I decided it was a decent time to harvest. Disappointing many of the fruits still needed time but I didn't want spores everywhere.

So the first flush for my 6QT tub turned out to be about 94g wet. So my guess is I'll have close to 9g dry.

This morning I checked on them drying and they are looking good. I'm going to wait a bit here and throw them in a desiccant chamber. (I'll be ordering a dehydrator after my vacation)

I also had some full 1/2 pint cakes finish consolidating recently so I had put them into fruiting. They are starting to look very promising! I see one of them already has some gross looking aborts. But I guess it is near impossible to avoid that.

Last night I dunked my tub and soon I will put it back into fruiting. I think these cakes have another 24-30 hours before they are ready.
I hope this helps/inspires any noobs out there. These are all my first attempts.
