Sounded like a very fun time. The first time I hunted the bluffs was just before the park opened to the public. That's when I got my special collecting license. It basically says the holder may collect any plant, animal, fish, game, mushroom etc by any means necessary. We were doing the survey of the park and all species that occurred. I worked on the mushrooms there all weekend, back then I was chair of the fungi section of the PA biological survey. A few of the morels there seemed a little different so I sent them off for DNA. Just my luck the test did not produce results. We did find one rare species there. My best collecting for non edibles was going down the little creek.

a couple other things:
what did you say these were again o8u? i think they're groovy

likely a baby ganoderma - its a dead standing tree that sounds hollow if you bang on the side of it
likely Bolbitius titubans, we saw a bunch
just something odd i noticed
ganoderma growing from fallen hemlock log
a slime we kept finding on the big vines

Morchella elata is a European species. Morchella angusticeps is the best name I can come up with for it, but I think it may be an undescribed species.

Undescribed species is rare enough for me lol. Morchella angusticeps is the best name I can come up with for it, but I think it may be an undescribed species.
Thank you for that info o8u!
