An awesome local from my area (completely in the middle of nowhere) finally finished my knife today. A full tang high carbon 8 inch behemoth of a santoku knife with brass rivets. Never used an 8 inch santoku before so I was curious. He was in a rush yesterday so I never got the steel specs or wood species. I'll update soon. An absolute beauty of a knife. It reminds me of a simpler time when products were made honest. This will be a knife my kid's grandkids will still be using one day.

Overall feel? while amazing and hypnotic to look at it did have a few downfalls. It's a little clumsy feeling and with a convex edge geometry I found it had a hard time catching foods where I wanted it to. The thickness of the spine also made the knife a more obtusive wedge making it hard to get through delicate or hardy veggies. This knife is definitely going to be for quick rough chops where neatness is not required. Now I can't wait to make stock.

Looks good to me.. I like the rustic look and I appreciate the effort that went into this..
I recently started putting handles on knife blanks that I buy online. Here are some kitchen knives that Im finishing up with buckeye burl natural wood handles.

I will have more for sale soon...

Why is it all pitted? It looks like the guy found it with a metal detector in his yard, I wouldn't pay more than 15$ for it.
