If I don't get out of bed in the morning, my entire spine will eventually calcify, and I will loose the ability to do it myself.

My little dudes wake me up every day. One and three years old. If i dont get up to take care of them they could be destroying shit or literally out playing in the street since they both know how to open the front door. I get up out of love for them.

I have plenty of things to do on a regular basis, but even assuming there was absolutely nothing of value to do, I would still get out of bed because too much sleep makes me depressed, and I have very dry skin so bedsores would become a problem very quickly. As for what I do, I'm not inclined to give a rundown of my average day (which is mostly consumed by work, anyway), but I certainly spend some time here at the Shroomery. I mostly use a computer that I have to get out of bed to use, so there's a reason right there!

When I say why do you get out of bed I don't literally mean why do you get out of bed. I'm asking why is it you do the things you do outside of acquiring money and goods.

I would give two reasons: because humans have an aversion to boredom, and also there's probably an element of DA in play at all times. As Nietzsche said, whatever humans are doing, there are always two central factors: danger and play. I think we get out of bed to satisfy/placate those drives.

Because the only other two alternative options, i.e; death (perhaps by not getting out of bed), or losing oneself in drugs (probably staying in bed whilst doing so), seem worthless by comparison to trying to make something of this crazy business that is life in our current age.
Now if I lived a tribal (leaver) existence, then I feel I could truly answer; 'because I want to'.
-------------------- Let it be seen that you are nothing. And in knowing that you are nothing... there is nothing to lose, there is nothing to gain. What can happen to you? Something can happen to the body, but it will either heal or it won't. What's the big deal? Let life knock you to bits. Let life take you apart. Let life destroy you. It will only destroy what you are not. --Jac O'keeffe
