psychedelics for treating severe anxiety issues
    #21697130 - 05/19/15 04:23 AM (8 years, 8 months ago)

Hi, I am new on this board and I have been suffering from severe social anxiety disorder, GAD, depression and even PTSD for many years. I would like to know if any psychedelics like iboga, psilocybine, ayahuasca...could help me to relieve of these issues ? I

I am really desperate, I have tried over 40 psychiatric drugs with a lot of different therapies in period of 10 years and nothing has helped me yet. I have also tried  a lot of various OTC drugs, herbs, supplements, nootropics.... but nothing has worked for me, at least to the point where I could be able to function normally in everyday life and in regular social situations.

Thank you in advance for any advice you might have.

Michael

Although I have never tried it personally, I have heard from multiple sources that ayahuasca can be extremely beneficial for the conditions that you describe. Here is Amber Lyon describing how ayahuasca and psilocybin has been helpful for her anxiety and PTSD:

thanks for the link, it seems interesting...

Is there any chance, i could do any of these mushrooms by myself ? I am from europe and in my country, mushrooms are legal, but there arent any provider who could help me with treatment or help me to undergo trip. I only can read up

For example, i have read somewhere that there is a possibility to take psilocybine in small doses daily for PTSD.

First, I must give the disclaimer that I am not an expert on this subject, so don't take anything I say as the final word on the issue. I don't recommend taking psilocybin daily. I would recommend a maximum frequency of once every two weeks. It is definitely possible to have a valuable experience when taking them on your own but I would recommend only a small dose if you are doing this. If there is anyone you know, maybe a friend or family member that could watch you while you trip to make sure that you are okay through the process, this would be best I think. Until you've tried them a few times and know what to expect, then i think you should do them with a trip sitter. But this is just my two cents.

Give DMT a go. I am supposed to be at least mildly schizophrenic and it left me clearer and more normal than I've ever been in the comedown.

I have not done DMT, but really want to. The reason I've held back is because people report that it is the most intense, potent psychedelic around, and I am worried about having a bad trip, and it damaging me. Not many people tend to have a bad trip on DMT though, why do you think this is? Also, do you think that it could be damaging to someone who has anxiety and sometimes has panic attacks when they lose control?

I went through the same shit and as long as everything is working out right for you the psychedelics will work. If something else is going on right now that would put you in a bad trip, dont do it. For past things, it works great.

Low or tolerated doses of DMT will agonize 5HT2A (serotonin receptor) and you'll mostly get a bit of strangeness with eyes open and some way-too-fast-moving interpretations of that agonism by your mind in the form of kinda boring patterns with eyes closed.

Moderate doses of DMT take you to this familiar place you sorta may think is sacred, or at least alien, and everything is changing with eyes open and warping and big pulses are going through all objects simultaneously... closed eyes reveal endless tunnels for me. It's way more fun with eyes open.

Yet to take it to a high or very high dose where you really trip balls. This is probably what you're thinking of. Encountering entities, minutes lasting hours or whatever, breakthroughs to dimensions filled with owls (lol!)... Just don't go that hard, there is a little bit of room to take a moderate dose but you will still not really know what hit you.

At reasonable doses there isn't enough time to panic or lose your shit, it's all over before you know it.

Okay cool. So you'd recommend against a breakthrough dose? Or just against it until I've tried a moderate dose?

What was moderate for me was a full cone piece of plant material (not extracted crystals) with no weed residue or anything else mixed with it, not even tobacco. I don't know how you'd get moderate doses with the pure crystals, you'd have to ask the experts in The Psychedelic Experience.

Just have the thoughts in mind that it is a substance natural to the brain and that's why it's over in 10 - 15 minutes, the brain metabolizes it quickly because its natural to the environment in there. And you got a guy, me, telling you he felt better afterwards and he's supposed to be schizophrenic.

It'll end before you know it. I really don't see any risks associated with DMT use.

But then one day I'll die of astonishment when I hit the big doses.

But yeah man, it is a magical, wonderful experience and it just comes out of nowhere. I am convinced it is a real level or dimension and not just a brain chemistry consequence. Go for it. It's good for your brain, that's what you want if you have anxiety.

Yah the realness of the open eyed visuals alone on dmt make me seriously doubt its just brain chemistry malfunction. Its definitely a frequency related thing.

I have been using mushrooms the past 1 1/2 months in hope of treating/ helping some of my depression. Not going to go all into it but it has it's moments

that they do seem to help. You've been through treatment and counselling so you know that it is up to you not any drug or pill or counseling session.

to get most of out it you need to take a high dose alone in silent darkness lying on a bed.

thats where the most healing takes place IME

should only need to do it once every 2 months.

once every month would be the max you should need for high dose treatments.

.edit wrong thread

edit2: since I post here, I might as well mention. I find small-medium doses of salvia have helped me feel a lot better.

I spent 8 months testing mushrooms for depression. ive ate them fresh and dried. ive made teas and consumed them with maoi's. ive taken heroic and microdoses.

ive never experienced this "afterglow" that ive heard so many people speak of, but there are benefits to eating mushrooms.

as someone who suffers from anxiety, I will tell you this. mushrooms only exacerbate what you are feeling physically and mentally, so if youre generally a very anxious person, id expect you to be in a somewhat uncomfortable state, physically, during your trip. (shaky hands, racing heart, etc. typical anxiety symptoms, only intensified)

however, mushrooms allow me to look at myself from an "outsiders" perspective. negativity, self-defeating thoughts and behaviors, n automatic thought processes go out the window. im able to see myself for who I really am, and how things REALLY are, not when theyre tainted by ego, resentment, jealousy, anger, self-hatred, etc.

mushrooms give me a glimpse of what life SHOULD be like. they can offer you insight that youre unable to grasp in a sober mind state.

if you feel like the mushrooms are calling you, then you should try. before every trip I get myself so worked up, cause of my anxiety, but as soon as they kick in, there is an "ahhhhhhh", sigh of relief. go for it brother!

I have listened some podcasts with Amber Lyon about mushrooms and I would give psilocybin a try. I searched for some sites, looking for some vendors within Europe and i found one seller from Netherlands (i would place a link, but i am afraid that it would be against the rules).

But according to your knowledge, research and mostly according your experiences, which one of psilocybin truffles could be the best choice for my above mentioned problems (there are some like Atlantis, Tampanensis, Mexicana...and more)

I don't think the type of mushroom holds any relevance. each will give you the psychedelic experience youre looking for. dosage will vary between each though, so make sure you do your research.
