Mushrooms for awful addiction?
    #21696217 - 05/18/15 09:31 PM (8 years, 8 months ago)

Hey everybody
Was wondering if anybody had any information or tips on how psychedelics impact on addiction?
Basically back story is have been an addict for the last 7 years having started with pot everyday then moving onto meth/ice 5 years ago smoking it everyday for a good portion off that time, finally quitting that but moving onto benzo's (Xanax, valium and clonazepam((By far the worst addiction I have ever faced)everyday for roughly 6 months with broken usage 6 months before that.
Mushroom season has just started here and found a nice patch today, have been clean 3 weeks off everything and am struggling with some serious anxiety post benzo use, and can see a relapse around the corner.

Plan is in a week or two have a trip by myself (tripped on mushrooms roughly 7ish times before and lsd about 5 so have experience) , was wondering what the recommended dosage would be? And how I should go about it? Any more information needed happy to give it.

Reason I am having the trip is because I understand and know the amazing benefits of hallucinogens in all matters off life

its great for ocd.

i would take a heavy dose in silent darkness alone in my bed, thats how i would get the most benefits from the "reset"

Interesting method, have never tripped in the darkness before but can image the "reset" you talk about, which is exactly what I am after. No ocd here just bad anxiety due to the abuse off anti anxiety meds. Do psychedelics have an impact on anxiety?

Awesome defiantly a major bonus, more so focusing on the addiction aspect here though, as the anxiety will heal over time from abstinence. The life long disease of addiction is my main concern, sick and tiered of depending on substances just to make it through a day :frown:

yeah they are great for addiction, i dont use anything but weed because i just need something to take a bit of the edge off, but im a rare case.

Ive had a lot of traumatizing experiences so im kind of mentally insane now. turned me schizophrenic. but im a healthy person, do a lot of rigorous weight training so im very healthy physically. but mentally im asylum material.

but dont worry im sure it wasnt because of psychedelics just life :S

Psychedelics have taught me how to endure this with a little more maturity but its still very difficult.

Exactly the beauty of psychedelics, really give's you a new aspect on life, helps you look in from outside the box. So defiantly thinking about a big trip in this case, shall prep for a week and a half with exercise and meditation and cross off a few things that will surely pop up during the trip (cut some loose ends). Shall go for the dark room with the lights off route. Hard drugs are awful really ruin lives once dependence becomes an issue, seen the impacts first hand and don't need to go down that dead end road,

They gave me the wisdom to quit meth 17 years ago. If you go in with an open mind and positive attitude, your answers should be revealed to you.

Defiantly going in with an open mind and a positive attitude (only way to do it), and see what the shrooms have to offer.

I have an addictive personality and have always been addicted to something. Most of my adult life it has been Ms.MaryJ, my twenties and teens alcohol.

Your going to always be addicted to something bricky. It doesn;t have to be drugs though. Hopefully through a few good trips on shrooms you can dive into

your soul and self examine a little bit, nahh a lot! But you have to want it man, you can't just hope the mushies are going to make the cravings go away.

It's you, it can only be you! The shrooms will guide you if you let them and if they want to, but you have to be listening and willing. You have to let go.

hahahaha couldn't have put it better myself, I am the exact same have such an addictive personality, get addicted to anything that gives my pleasure. And your spot on this is so much more then just hopping to stop taking drugs, that's all up to me, im going to search for a meaning, something to strive for, something to focus my life on and what aspects I can improve, heighten my spirituality which will have a major impact on the addiction. And as long as I can keep focused, drugs will no longer rule my life.

Was also wondering what dosage I should take, how strong off a trip should I look for? Like I said have had experience with a few different levels off tripping

Understanding of addiction is changing, an interesting study recently showed that removing addicted rats from their unpleasant environment to a better place was all it took to get them off cocaine.  ( http://elitedaily.com/news/world/scientists-may-discovered-real-cause-addiction/915030/ )

Moving from one addiction to another is a sign you're running from something.  Find what that is, face it and change it and the urge to destroy yourself will be gone.  Mushrooms are great for helping us see these things, and they can biochemically alleviate the depression and imbalance caused by addiction, but you'll need to be prepared to act upon what the mushrooms show you, do some work and be committed to change if you want to get over your addictions.  Good luck.

Have read that study before and do find it interesting, have had time off here and there before but allways seem to fall back, you are right though I am running from something and that's exactly what I am trying to find out, at the moment only have a rough idea off the roots but cant be exact  ...

Then mushrooms could be very helpful for you.  I suggest sitting down beforehand and writing a statement of intent, asking the mushrooms for direction and stating what it is you are trying to find out, then after the experience, write as detailed an account of your trip as possible, for your own records.  Journaling can be helpful in these kind of therapeutic situations to help solidify and elaborate the lessons you learn and help you remember.  Doing 3.5-5g alone in a dark, safe bedroom while comfortable in bed with some light, uplifting but not too distracting music or perfect silence is a great way to approach the shamanic side of mushrooms.  Safe travels and best of luck with recovery from your addictions.  Report back if you find out anything interesting.

The statement off intent sounds perfect, will go for roughly 3g (5star trip)although never taken this much so might go for 2.5 (or should I go for the Terence McKenna and go for the massive trip?)which in your opinion would be more beneficial? , taking p. subaeruginosa which are extremely potent, really enjoy my music so will try with both music and non music. Going to wait a couple weeks a thoroughly prepare myself both mentally and physically and will defiantly report back.

2.5g subaeruginosa will be a powerful and moving experience and ought to be sufficient.  3g might just be adding more bodyload and mindfuck.  Best of luck.

.....that's how u do it!.....focus strongly and meditate on your intent which I assume is overcoming your addiction. I mean really really focus your intent pray and meditate and say the words aloud describe in words aloud exactly what you want to gain from your experience and ask the mushroom gods to bless you and help you.

Be extremely humble and vulnerable truly truly open your mind and heart! :-) ask the mushroom gods to do their work and prepare yourself for said work.....best wishes...

Shrooms helped me with a 15 year plus amphetamine addiction. For the first time realised the gravity of my addiction and how it effected those close to me. After two rehabs it was the shrooms who finnaly helped me it for what it was.

Recommend a 3g trip, for a trip with intent. Good trip vibes and luck with the recovery.
