Most of the time, edibles are not sold as spore solutions as you get a very random assortment of phenotypes. So you would end up with a whole mass of different behaving fungi, not all that convenient for someone trying to grow under stable constant conditions.
On the other hand, given that cultivating morels is a bloody nightmare, this logic doesnt really hold. Honestly its far easier to collect spores from morels than to clone due to its propensity towards being parasitized by a zygomycete. Cutting a chunk off a morel and plating it will often as not end up with a plate full of fluffy pin head mold.
Mostly, its convenience. Most of the big culture sources work from clones sourced from other commercial sources. These are all cultures, not spores, so the trend continues. Unless you have a source for fresh wild morels handy, I'm afraid finding spores will be tricky. Good luck!

Hello, I have morel spore prints. I picked about 750 of our native Arizona strain that fruits from spring through fall here. They are the black morel variety, very prolific and delicious! I don't have them listed on my site at the moment but I have spore prints on foil for $20 plus shipping. Email me if interested.
