Can long term MDMA use impact the effects of psilocybin?

Alright, I have a close friend of mine that uses MDMA quite often. We've taken shrooms together twice now (about 3.2gs dry each) and both times he's described the effects as being "like molly" but "really mild". It can't be the shrooms, since I was tripping really hard both times, and another friend reported intense effects from a dose lower than what we took. We also waited an adequate time between trips, so tolerance isn't an issue. The only effects my friend feels is an increase of energy, a physical sensation, and a mildly altered state of consciousness. He hasn't seen any visuals, or experienced any of the effects psilocybin is most often associated with. I know that long term use of MDMA can change the way the brain works, so I was wondering if that could be the cause of the reduced effects. Another possible factor is his liver, which isn't in great shape. That might affect how much of the psilocybin he's metabolizing.
Any ideas on what the cause could be?

Mushrooms to me can be what you want them to be if you've done them enough times. You can make it feel like another drug if you really put your mind to it. I know I have felt like I was rolling the first time my girlfriend decided to trip on mushrooms with us. I was just in such a great mood the whole trip and my body felt exactly how it would feel on molly. The only difference was the way I was thinking.
-------------------- Do not let psychedelics allow you to think lower of people who haven't done them or don't plan on doing them because "they don't know the truth". Let your enlightenment acknowledge that everyone is equal and that no one is inferior. This mentality goes against what they are meant for. By the way, everything typed on this account is completely fictional and all for the purpose of entertainment.

No clue.
But back when i was taking mdma often, there was a day that i took a gram of mushrooms and it totally mimicked an mdma experience. Only difference was it had more visuals.

The only thing I could think of is heavy neurotoxic effect sustained by someone after long term MDMA use causing there to be a lot less serotonin receptors. That means it would be more difficult for psilocybin to be uptaken, but it doesn't really sound likely.

Some people just don't hallucinate much from mushrooms. It may have something to do with their drug use, but they could have been that way before taking any mdma at all. some people just cant trip, or need a loooooot in order to have a profound experience.
