I don't like picking a mushroom purely for taking a snapshot. This one will be chopped up and returned to clean chip to spread the love.
It is a good spot - there were several kilograms of mushrooms there by the look of it. I didn't have the camera with me unfortunately.

So you're saying you would prefer to leave it in its place for the sake of the species, not because you dislike the act of picking or taking photos of mushrooms. I suppose that's a fair point, though I've always pondered whether picking mushrooms is a good or a bad thing for the population of the species. By picking a mushroom up and taking it home, you are spreading its spores wherever you go, creating the opportunity for new patches to come to existence that may never have existed if you hadn't have picked the mushroom(s). It's an interesting topic but not one for this thread.

Subsecotioides do not have the ability to forcibly eject spores, so moving them doesn't spread them automatically. They are spread naturally by insects consuming them.
However it is possible with the long stipe variety to take a light print. they seem to drop spores to a degree.

You are right in the case of that species, which admittedly I did forget about, but the argument still stands for most species of mushrooms, as you said.

ive had subsectozoid fruit and eject spores, so it does happen, ive also found them in the wild where this has happened.

in the last pick you can see how dark they have got, it doesnt look like subsectozoid but it is, the dark colouring i also attributed to spore ejection in the enclosed environment. im not a mycologist but this was a perplexing experiment which i did afew years back

Bluing said: You are probably aware that there are a number of risks associated with consuming Amanita muscaria, so why go there? Maybe you can take it the traditional way after being filtered and purified through a number of other peoples kidneys. No one 'owns' a patch - the universe allows us to enjoy them. You only own one if it is on your private land and you have created it. Otherwise we are visitors to a shared experience. I used to get upset when someone 'found' 'my' patch. I now realise the mushrooms are where we need them, and they move on, unless we nurture them.
If you want something 'better' take a bigger dose of psilocybe. Have you done a 5 grams dried dose yet?
What risks? Side effects can be negated with proper treatment and dosage.

This is a pretty ridiculous debate to be having on this thread but I honestly cannot see the issue with smart phones? Why is it gross to have a portable internet device rather than being confined to the one in your office? Free facebook messaging, reddit/shroomery checking, GPS maps, gaming, etc which can all be accessed on something that slides into your pocket... where is the downside? What do you do on a road trip? On a bus? Or anywhere else without wifi? Sure it's not necessary to have internet at your fingertips 24/7 but it sure is nice.
