Thoughts sound like light bulbs and those watery dream sounds in cartoons when characters drift off into thought or sleep.
But maybe different thoughts have different sounds/vibrations. Happy thoughts seem like they'd be a light static buzzing, dark angry thoughts would be like grinding gears or scratchiness.

But I've wondered that same thing before, and got the same answer you did upon further research. I decided that because I think in language, its impossible for me to truly understand how something can "think in concepts, not language."
I came to the same conclusion but I'd still like to understand it. But after thinking about it (lol) I'm guessing I just won't be able to understand since thinking in language is so far ingrained into me.
This thread also made me realize something else. There is no voice when I think. There's no distinct sound to it which I find odd. If I think about what someone else said, I can hear it in their voice, if I recall something I said once, I can hear it in my voice, I can recall random ambient sounds, but if it's a completely unique thought that I've never heard anyone say, it lacks any and all distinction.
Which makes me wonder. If telepaths were real, and I have no way to distinguish my thoughts, how would I ever know that my thoughts were my own? For all I know half, or even all of what I'm thinking as I type this up is someone else inside my head planting these thoughts. Maybe that entire last line was deliberately implanted by them to fuck with me and rub it in my face that they're in my head and I can't do anything about it. So glad I'm not tripping while sitting here thinking about this shit.
Haha, that shits deep man. I see what you're saying. While I wouldn't say my thoughts have a distinctive voice, I'd wager that I could tell the difference between the "sound" of my thoughts versus others. "So glad I'm not tripping while sitting here thinking about this shit." Haha, I agree with ya there.

My thoughts sound exactly like my voice but only I can hear it. Unless I'm thinking/remembering and image which are silent.
I had a friend who was completely fluent in both Spanish and English. She once told me that she thinks in Spanish (her first language). Until that point I never considered how I'd think if I didn't know a language.

But does it sound like your voice as you hear it, or your true voice?
I know like, a few words in several languages. I'm not fluent in any, except English and profanity though. I can't imagine thinking in another language.

I actually really like this one.
I imagine thoughts as a buzzing, like a hive of bees.
Awesome thought experiment OP
Yeah same here, but quieter. More like a hiss. Like a small air leak or a fan or motor in the distance.

I can't relate these buzzing and jingling sounds to the sound of a thought. Are you guys like, considering what the reaction in your brain sounds like whenever a thought occurs?

I can have it so there are no words going on but that quiet high-pitch high-frequency noise is always there. It doesn't seem like like tinnitus, which is something I get once in a while also, because when I focus in on these hums I feel like they are more part of my consciousness. The hums can either morph into coherent thoughts or I can interpret them as such, where tinnitus is just a ringing in my ears. I'm not actually "hearing" anything either it is just some sensation that is hard to pin down, so you compare it to what you know.

A single pluck from some string instrument, or sometimes a low droning sound for when you get all up in that head.
