Hidden Poison
    #2169158 - 12/08/03 04:40 PM (13 years, 1 month ago)

Is there a possibility of mold infection without a visible indicator, that could be hidden througought a flush, and tranfer toxins to the mushrooms?

I asked anno about this in S&P regarding myth's. It would be of great help if we could get this info out, there may be situations that this could happen, maybe a great danger. Anybody have any answers?

I cannot think of any contams hidden inside a substrate that would not show deformities in mature fruits.

Is it possible... in theory, yes... in practice, no.

so unless you see an ovious mold infection or bacteria infection there isnt a real way i would know about it... or that by the common means for anyone growing, it just wouldnt happen? Clarification would be superb bro, u witty fiend!

Besides the visual contact you can spot a contaminant by its smell.
Sometimes the process of finding a contaminant is not so straight forward as one might think but there are several indicators which may tell you if things are going right or wrong. Verifying the condition of mycelium and fruitbodies is very important, like if you're getting too many aborts with no apparent reason or if the fruitbodies get deformed, that could mean something is not right.
