Should i toss tub ?

I started this tub on 4-23. cased on 5-2 .patched & fruited on 5-14 . I'm starting to notice dark areas on the mycelium.
this is what it looked like on 4-28. 4 days later i cased it.

It seems to have stalled. This is what it looks like today.

I think you may have cased it a little thick and the myc is reaching up to break the surface... I wouldn't toss it...how thick is your casing layer?

I wouldn't toss it either... just give it some time and keep up with the misting and fanning.
I mist & fan the hell out of my mono's & trays until the pinset comes in...

Didn't think i had to mist and fan. I have 4 lower holes and two upper holes. All stuffed with polyfil. And yes i think i did go a little thick with the casing prob 3/4", maybe 1 inch.
What is your thoughts on the darker mycelium?

It's aerial mycellium that dried out...I had this happen to my mini subs whIle I was visiting the local jail here fml...let me dig up a pic... you can see the dried out myc then the new growth once I got the moisture content back up...

Mist that tub until the casing layer darkens in color (absorbs water) ... then fan.
When the casing layer lightens in color (it is drying out), mist again.
mist and fan. you're looking good. keep going

How is it stalled? It looks fine to me. You understand casings aren't meant to get colonized right? They're a NON NUTRIENT moisture barrier used to induce pinning and maintain moisture in substrate. Keep it looking damp, not wet. Hope this helps.
Casings actually require less work and maintenance than without. Just be patient man. Also you can have way more fae with a casing so you don't even need the top poly holes.

Yea, I thought the casing layer was suppose to colonize. Just thought because after the casing layer is applied and it colonizes 25-30 % i then put in fruiting conditions. I might be a little slow but i guess i am so fixated on colonizing. So i need to switch gears and start thinking, fruiting. Are you saying, just take out the poly on the top 2 holes ?

Yes just the top 2 holes. You can just keep 1 stuffed and remove the 2nd one, since I don't know your current environment. But I live in a dry ass environment. With a casing both holes open works wonders.

I'm starting to see little pins forming. So i am going to lightly mist once in the morning and once at night, keeping it wet but no puddles at all . As soon as i see it glisten, stop spraying. Am i on the right track? Im thinking i my not have to spray that much but, I dont know maybe more. I need to learn how to look at the sub and know what it needs.

I really don't have to spray much if at all. Sounds like you're well on track

look n good, amigo
at some point you will stop misting. it seems like PE 'blotches' (pseudomonus) when water droplets sit on the caps.
 dark spots on the caps
in another few days ... say 3 .. you'll want to increase air flow. developing mushrooms love air.
what's your ambient humidity there?

I think that the blotches from misting with PE isn't pseudomonias. Pseudomonias will eventually eat the caps away, sometimes the whole cap. The blotches I suspect are merely water damage from larger droplets hitting them. This can happen with any cube but PE seems to damage easier. With pseudomonias the real culprit is poor FAE and standing water on the caps. If your FAE is good, water on the caps will evaporate quickly and the bacteria can't get started.
Cron had a grow a few years ago where pseudomonias literally ate half the caps in his tub. Was pretty insane.

OK. sounds good.
I'll forget the pseudomonus part and just call it water damage from now on. thanks
I can hose standard cubes down at any point in their development. However, after a certain point misted PE caps water damage. Guys even wipe water droplets off tub lids to keep them from falling on PE caps.

I have backed off of the watering and i have no poly in the top holes. this is what it looks like , pins are about two full days old. The room this is in, is about 75 degrees and humidity is very low 40's. Also my plastic liner was cut a little short on one corner, see pic. Hows it looking , im learnin. O, and thanks for not letting me throw this out.
