Colorado Mushroom ID request
    #21688938 - 05/17/15 12:19 AM (8 years, 8 months ago)

Hey all, I've been lurking here for a while and this is my first post. I've always been interested in psychedelics and have now become interested in mushrooms in general. I was hoping you could help me identify some mushrooms I found in central Colorado near Buena Vista (roughly 8,000 feet elevation). These four mushrooms were the only ones around.

Habitat: found in a patch of grass in semi-rocky soil near a river.

Gills: tan leaning towards more of a rust color

Stem: Same coloration as caps. Varies from light tan to the same rust color as the gills. Stems are slightly flattened.

Cap: One specimen very tan and golden around edges. Overall, the are orange-ish and tan. No pattern on caps.

Bruising: brushing on largest specimen appeared as a darker shade of brown when compared to the rest of the cap. Became soft and moist looking.

I am in the process of making a spore print and will post the results later.

Again, thanks for your help. I think mushroom hunting and identification is definitely something I want to get into!

Looks like Tubaria, maybe T. furfuracea.
