Hey guys, I'm kind of new here and would really appreciate any input as to what this is. Found it growing in a cluster all by its lonesome in my yard in Houston, Texas. I'm not too hopeful but you never know!

If you only care about it being active then no its not active Others will fill you in if your honestly curious what type of mushroom it is. But you have to do a write up under the subcatagory mushroom Id. And it will give you a template go give us information about the mushroom. Considering its your first post you just want to get high... which is cool but be a part of the community read the forum rules and such and do not be just a kid looking for some shrooms to eat Heed my lesson You'll benefit from it

I was actually curious regardless of whether it is active, and thanks, I will. I'll look more into it by searching and just wanted to push myself to post as I usually tend to forget. I initially tried the mushroom id subcategory that but to be honest I'm still unsure how to tell most of them apart save what I know from pasture hunting 15 years ago and was a bit overwhelmed and unsure how to properly describe it. I appreciate the help and advice and hope to understand a lot more about mushrooms (active and not) as time allows. Thanks!

There wasn't anything really wrong with your ID request, in fact it was better than 90% of the ones we see on a day to day basis - having clear, well lit photos and a few words to describe them goes a long way. And there is nothing wrong at all with primarily wanting to find only actives, mushrooms hold different types of interest depending on the individual. Good job and welcome to the Shroomery
