Mycelium formations that i've never experienced... and first time working with grain

This is my frist time working with grain and i'm getting some really crazy looking mycelium (I'm assuming) formation that started in the grain jars and are now continueing in the fruiting chamber. Is this normal? I tried looking for other examples/pitures but couldn't figure out what a good key word to search would be. I've never seen mycelium grow in formations like this. The pictures are of Malibar strain. I started another batch of grain at the same time that is penis envy and that all looks completely normal... What's up with this? O and the circles are just cut up BRF cakes of the same strain from the same syringe. Since I had never worked with grain before I wanted to make some BRF cakes just in case the grain jars got contaminated...

mycelium does that when it's riddled with bacteria.
I would just toss it outside and hope for the best

Do you know what could have caused that? I pressure cooked all the jars for 1.5 hours and worked in front of a flow hood to inoculate. I used wheat berries with proper amounts of lime and hydrogen peroxide added to the jars.

my first tray of bulk looked like that. major bacteria.
what did you inoculate your grains with?
maybe you had dirty inoculant or it was your grain prep. bacteria likes to grow in places with excess moisture. it could also be your filters or high temps?

I inoculated with a new spore syringe from spore works. I live in an extremely humid swampy climate sooo excessive moisture is a thing here . The HEPA filter on my flow hood is brand new and I've had everything sitting in a tempurature controlled fridge set to 75f... Oooo well! the penis envy is looking good and healthy though. Is it possible that the strain is too susceptible to hosting bad bacteria in my climate? The grain used for the penis envy was all from the same batch of grain and inoculated with a syringe also.

Hydrogen peroxide has no place in growing mushrooms
Lime doesnt go in spawn.

So... That tray looks similar to my first grain tray. I thought it was cauliflower mycelium. I looked around the web and came to that conclusion. It said it was caused from the mycelium " reaching for moisture".
Now mind you, I'm a total noob and this was my first attempt at a grow. So maybe I was mistaken. But regardless. I continued with the grow and it fruit fairly ok. Got 40 g dried on first flush.

But my mycelium growth wasn't as aggressive as your looks. Just a thought

it's not aggressive it's fucked. bacteria is a pinning trigger though you'll get a flush maybe but I wouldn't want that around.
people mistake this for aerial mycelium which is mycelium reaching out for air and moisture or genetic. this is thick finger projections and I've only ever seen those and fucked go hand in hand.

Dang!!, and I'm out of town for a week still and no way to get back to my trays. Hmm..... Guess I'll just have to scratch it when I get home and start fresh.
Atleast I got an ok flush out of my tray's. AND more importantly, I know what to look for on the next grow.
Thanks for the info!

Malbar you say? I the same growth on my Malbar grow a week ago and I just harvested 66 oz (wet) out of it. Working on the second flush now. I don't see any other signs of bacterial growth...
I've seen these formations before and have never had problems. It's usually when I am slacking on fanning so it probably is an FAE thing.
But for what it's worth, here's the tub I just harvested.

Deleting this reply. Guess I can't say where I got the strain from. Woops!

Since when was bacteria a reason to toss out a project any way? If it colonizes...who cares?

I was actually about to post the same thing too. Bacterial doesn't spew out spores like mold does. It's not as big of a worry. You can keep it inside.
As long as you keep fanning and misting you will probably see the mycelium form knots withing a couple days.
Please update us.

I've seen myc do that from the sub being excessively wet also
Is that grain spawn mixed with anything? Looks like straight grains...

Now that you mention it, that might be when I've seen it as well. If I mist too heavy and don't give enough FAE for evep.

Not worth saying, delete that shit and remember what is meant for microscopy only
It looks like you have cakes inside of a bulk sub, whats goin on there?

Are you being real right now? I haven't been active on shroomery for a long time, is there some new rule that about saying where you got your spores?

I'm sorry for being a dick, but yeah sponsors sell spores for microscopy only. Rule 3 of Mush Cult states we don't talk about breaking the rules of those companies because spores are only sold legally for biological studies. http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/14960167
Psilocybe Fanaticus got busted because the grow kits/instructions he sold along with spores was enough to suggest he was selling them for cultivation purposes and not identification purposes. That being said... I've seen bacteria when I'm at work and when I'm hangin at home depot, germination on agar is the way to go.
