So I didn't shake my wbs jar. And now I can't get it to brake up to spawn into a Monotub. Can I just brake up with my hands if I wear gloves?

I find it's easier to hit my hand against the jar. I close my fist and just pound the jar really hard with my hand. But if you smack the jar against your hand, then it hurts really bad.

I know this may be heresy ... but ... sorry, I'm just being real. I've always used a clean soup spoon.
some fully colonized spawn (oyster in particular) really really clings together. I don't have the time nor the energy to bang jars.

I've used the handle of a wooden spoon to break up spawn to great success in the past....if banging the jar against a tire or the floor is okay...I mean why not. The fact is as rr said is that if your grain is fully colonized you don't have to worry about contaminarion at the point of spawning.

Lol I can't use my fists. After dozens of jars my hands are throbbing. I just bang them against a phone book or something similar.

I just break the jar up a little and dump it in the tub and break it up the rest of the way with a gloved hand. Then mix it all in. I've been doing this for a really long time... Is that bad to do?
I used to break it all up in the jar, then I would layer it but I think I forgot one time and just dumped it in, then I went with it and have never turned back since.
