LSD isnt going to bring anything to the surface that isnt already there. Even if you lose your marbles its still "you" and "You" wont be aware of it

The "you" you know as an egoic persona is not the "you" that is truly you.

Is it really worth it? A lot of people have their lives change in a negative way from psychedelics and you already know schizophrenia runs in your family, so why risk it?

My psychiatrist thought I had some form of schizophrenia caused by bouts of depression. As when I was happy or normal, I could live life fine. But whenever I'd get these weeks or more of depression, I'd have these psychotic breaks. Like voices in my head, attempted suicide, thoughts of harm, severe delusion, and anxiety.
Ever since I used psychedelics I have not had a single schizophrenic episode. I've done both LSD and mushrooms, at various doses and I feel better than I have in years. I'm not saying go for it, as it can be a risk, but honestly it fixed me.

i believe you're thinking of Acute Drug induced Psychosis.
as someone said above, if you're going to get schiz you'll get it lsd or no lsd. it's extremely hard to draw a causal relationship between lsd/hallucinogen use and schizophrenia.

He came back pretty normal for years. He lost his shit twice over the last 4 years and now I refuse to trip with him so he won't dose anymore. He now takes some very strong sedatives and anti psychotics daily and cannot hold a job. He has a substantial family history of mental illness. All that being said, I think his symptoms would have appeared regardless of drug use but, these days, the hallucinagens really bring it out in him. They seemingly had little or no consequence when we were younger. I have no mental illness aside from the occasional bout with depression which is normal for most people.
I had a similar experience, with two different friends.
With the first friend we tripped for a few years together, at minimum once a month, at maximum once a week. He ended up getting early onset of a psychological disorder.
With my second friend we tripped a few times, and he ended up losing it and also developing an early onset of a psychological disorder.

Yeah if psych's cured your schizophrenia then you most likely got out of the psychotic break long before you took psyches again
