mycelium stopped brf cake

so i inculated 5 jars my sterilization was up to par (also the pot got dried for a few minutes and i had to add more water)...and all the jars were growing fast so in two weeks:
2 jars are 100% and now they are in the one week consolidation period.
3rd jar is 95% and stopped! the mycelium isn't growing like a web again on the uncolonized part but making an edge...and there is a light white color growing on the corner of the uncolonized substrate. (like the color you get on the first few days on the points of inoculation)
4th jar is 80% and now its growing slowly! or maybe it stalled!
5th jar is like 99%!!! and stopped on this tiny substrate part!
the thing is i am using cups covered with foil as lids so i am not confident bout turning them upside down...i have made the holes bigger on the stalled jars! no sign of contamination. they are stored in an closed rack...should i leave it opened?
any advice? gonna post pictures soon...am at work!

Okay, a couple questions: How long ago did you knock these up? Are you using a verm barrier on top like PF tek? Have you been moving them excessively? Any yellowish tint on the perimeter of myc colonizing?
It's normal for MS jars to colonize at different rates, btw.

And if you're using cups covered with foil, and it's got a couple holes in it, you should be good. Patience is key, especially with MS crapshots. What you're describing has happened to all of my jars.

I'm not convinced they're stalled. Betcha they're just growing slowly. They do have a larger surface area to do in the last stages of colonization. Just be patient. Give them a week or 2.

2 weeks is usually when I start to see like a half dollar sized colony. Either way, they look healthy and you're ahead of the race.

Nearly ten days and no sign of improvement!
The metabolite spot got bigger or it could be contamination!! And now there is a small pin.
Should i toss it or wait or what?

Birth it, and remove any uncolonized parts...dunk it, roll it, fruit it... that is the route I would take if it were me...I had some cakes do something like that.

My bet is bacteria. Open the jar, birth it, and give it a whiff at the problem area. It should smell like rotten apples at that point. With gloves on, cut out the uncolonized grain and cut back the myc (around the problem area) about a quarter inch. Soak the whole thing in a 1:10 peroxide and water bath. Wait a couple minutes and repeat until the peroxide stops foaming up. Rinse in spring water then crumble the cake up and mix myc crumbles 1:1 with hpoo/verm or coir/verm in a pan. Let colonize then add a casing layer and voila!

I've had amazing luck saving colonies using this method. For some reason, the peroxide makes it explode with growth overnight. Good luck!
