How has cannabis changed you?

I started smoking weed consistently about two months ago when I decided to stop being a pussy and go buy my own weed. My tolerance was balls low because I had only smoked about a total of 5 times in 2014. These are the results:
-less paranoid to actually go buy weed. I admit that Ive always been a drug mooch, not because of money, but being caught. The thought of being caught by the police scares the shitt out of me. But I learned driving with weed is easy.
- Time is slowing down. Earlier this year I was scared of the idea that my family members dying was something inevitable that I would have to deal with one day, and that Ive been wasting my life for the passed three years. So I felt that time was just too fast. After smoking for a bit, time feel at a better pace now, and those thoughts no longer reocurring.
-easier sleeping = lesser mood swings. Nights used to suck. I had much trouble falling asleep, but now I just smoke and it comes naturally. Also, my dreams have become less vivid, or just nonexistent at times, which I love! Good dream suppressant, which positive for me because fuck my dreams and nighttime oddities.
-Im a bit more paranoid, or suspicious. I see things sometimes, like bugs, from the corner of eye. Also Im much more likely now to look out the window , or look at my back seat first before getting in car. But its not all that often because I feel mostly good or neutral the rest of the time. So I think the positives have been medicinal for me.

Smoking weed has cost me tens of thousands of bucks, gave me numerous angina pectoris attacks, several close calls and had a part in my actual heart attack. It has had a part in me gaining several score pounds thanks to the munchies and made me feel miserable and addicted for quite a while. While it stimulated my imagination during use, I find my imagination since quitting to be empoverished. It turned me quite passive during use and gave me mad social anxiety after the first joint of the day. When blazed it took me an hour to orgasm and two hours to get to sleep.
This is what comes to mind first.

Come on now...it might make you hungry, but what you eat is on you.
Weed has brought some people tens of thousands of bucks.

Smoking is always a hit or miss for me. I feel nice and relaxed or I feel mad anxiety / paranoid / very negative self reflection. And this doesn't have to do with any underlying feeling.
I used to smoke a lot but now I only smoke very rarely. My friends smoke everyday and I can definitely see a change in some of them. Their personality seems to be flatter and they don't have motivation anymore to take care of stuff. It's also costing them tons of $.

My weed cost me a couple hundred startup (lights, pots, soil, nutes, timers etc.), and about $50/ month for electricity. I can live with that
And I don't know if cannabis has changed me. I've only been smoking for 45 years.

I've gone from confident and outspoken, to insecure and timid. I feel like it's turned me into a boring, annoyingly passive aggressive hermit. It's wrecked havoc on my self esteem and given rise to my already existing anxiety issues, border lining agoraphobia as well. Making decisions seems to be a lot harder too, like REALLY simple decisions.
I fluctuate between 165 and 185 lbs constantly. I can't get a grip on the munch factor.
I never have much spending money, needless to say why.
Chest pains as Asante mentioned, my throat always feels scabbed over.
As with anything. I believe current mood/mindset has a lot to do with the way marijuana affects different people. And the amount the person smokes as well...I've never been able to do it once in a while. It's everyday, and nearly all day. Which is the wrong way to use it in the first place.
I'm sure if someone's got a handle on their shit, smoking a little weed won't have too much effect on them whatsoever.
But heavy long term use, with no hiatus in between is the wrong way to be smoking. Straight up unhealthy. Physically and mentally.

Someone is gonna take this the wrong way
But I think a lot of people like to pin their personal problems on their weed habit when the blame actually lies elsewhere
Like yeah weed gives you the munchies yes it can make you anxious and it's definitely an expensive habit if you don't grow it
But I don't believe weed itself is causing these problems so much as the way the person is using it
I'm quitting soon myself so I can get a better job and focus on writing music
But I will always enjoy a nice toke to relax and unwind

Nah I agree with you, I addressed all of that in my post.
I'm currently in the process of trying to break my all day everyday habit too. But I never have real plans to quit all together. Just to get a grip on my self control..

Oh my post wasn't really directed at you it was meant to be more of a general observation
I love weed and all things weed I don't see that ever changing
But in my current state of affairs it's just holding me back from doing the things I really want to do
I figure once I get myself situated to where I can grow my own it will be a much more fun and worthwhile habit

Don't like weed? Don't smoke it. I quit recently for 45 days because I entered a no weed 90 day challenge. I didn't start smoking again because I felt like I "needed" the high or anything like that. After around day 25 I started getting death anxiety. I'm in my early twenties so my fear of death is extremely preemptive to say the least. I would, just before bed, think "I'm going to die one day and permanently lose consciousness." It kept me up a few nights and I honestly couldn't tell why it was happening. I would be so anxious my chest would get tight, my breathing would quicken and sometimes I even broke out into a sweat.
Ever since weed has been brought back into the equation, I get death anxiety much less often, and when I do, the physical symptoms are minimized. I also have finally gotten my enormous appetite back which is awesome because I'm trying to gain weight. I am less stressed about my job and schoolwork and I sleep better. Also my bowel movements have been more on point recently, so that's a plus. And now that I'm vaping again, my risks of getting cancer are decreased.

If I have a few beers I might be able to do that. But as soon as I smoke i'm in chill mode, and retreat to the quiet smoky smoking corner/car. ha
I've never had much of a "party mode" to begin with though. Back in the high school da(y)ze maybe.
But yeah I'm a total hack after I smoke.

Weed didn't do that, you did. I smoked weed every day in college and had nearly straight A's. You know why? Because I was responsible and knew my priorities. Work first and when I was done then I could get high.
Weed doesn't make people lazy, people are lazy and just happen to smoke weed.

I've been using it daily for years now. The altered state is really important to me. I'd probably be a less sociable, less compassionate person without it. Only gotten closer and become more respectful of it as the years have gone by. It's almost religious by this point.

Any major negative changes? It turned my anxiety disorder into dp/dr disorder...
Long term Positive changes? None i can think of
Short term postive? I feel awesome, creative, happy when im high
Short term negative? Getting uncomfortably high always sucks, Occasional panic attacks, but ive learned to keep calm over years of smoking so this is really rare and if it does happen i can calm myself down.

I find it naturally regulates itself unless you don't mind smoking 50$ worth of weed a day, met lots of great people, enjoyed lots of great times... All in all can't say it has ever been a negative in my life. If I don't like being stoned in some situations I don't smoke before hand. Nothing like a post work bong rip to chill though.

Procrastination levels went through the roof with the use of cannabis. Of course, I told myself early on to smoke only during evenings, as I found smoking during daylight makes me lethargic, apathetic, etc... I find it much more enjoyable to smoke during the evening, after a hard day of work, studying, creative work, music. Smoking during the day costs way too much.

I did for a while because I'm not a strong person. A lot of people aren't, and a drug like weed will fuck their motivation up and they won't get it back for a long time. I've quit 8 months ago though, and am doing much better.

Your not a strong person, like you said. So the weed isnt fucking up your motivation, you have low motivation and are claiming weed is the reason why.

good for you guy, but I disagree. weed makes being lazy a much more appealing option than it is sober. I would wrap up homework, smoke at night, and sleep too deep to wake up for my alarm. It had a marked effect on my grades and you telling me you didn't have an issue with it doesn't change that.

It also made me memorize the dollar menu for taco bell, mcdonalds, wendys, and burger king.

Hard to say. I smoke relatively rarely--like once a month max. The circumstances really have to be perfect--by myself with nothing to do and zone out to some sweet jams, camping trip in the middle of no where. It makes me socially reclusive and introspective.

Exactly what I did as well with the same results. And folks tend to smoke way too much. Moderation in all things, kids.

It saved my life, period. I was on 5 different meds all treatable by cannabis and from age 12 on they gave me, opiates, anti anxiety, psychotic, depression, anger, spasms and bipolar meds. Plus I was on copious amounts of amphetamines and other very obscure drugs. I had a mental breakdown in 10th grade and I was going to ER every 3 days from throwing up all the water I tried drinking. It quite literally saved both my life and preserved the chance for quality life. Now I'm a very chill, knowledgeable person and pretty happy with life.
However I and my family has spent around 40-50k in 7 years on it. Fucking staggering. Life wouldn't have been as hard for us all but it's the only medicine that can keep me alive with quality of life.

I have been smoking marijuana for 5, almost 6 years. It's brought me a lot of good times, the high changed once i got older and had smoked through like a hundred bowls. What was once a giggly laughing fit, munchie inducing, out of my mind blazed and ridiculous became a more mature, quieter, still munchie inducing, still somewhat laugh inducing, more reserved high.
As a person i don't think i am that different to be honest. I think weed is a good thing for me now because it keeps me out of trouble and from using other drugs too much when really all i could use is a bong rip. So thats nice.
I think it brought out some anxiety and paranoia in me, which is only while i am stoned. Before smoking weed i think i was more generally anxious or easily embarrassed/uncomfortable. But now its all kind of concentrated into when i am stoned. Like i heightened my threshold for being anxious.
Through the social act of smoking with people i have made a lot of friends, and it opened my mind to trying psychedelics, which led me to here. I think i have become more sociable and better at interacting with people through smoking weed because it makes me more self aware of things i say and do.
I do feel like weed has maybe descreased my motivation a bit, because i'll get stoned and nervous about transitioning places, especially public places. Like if i get stoned, i wanna get stoned and chill where im at for a while until im less baked. Seems to me the point of smoking weed is to chill and talk and let your mind wander anyways. So i am going to blame myself for the lack of motivation i have sometimes.
Also i think my imagination is a little hindered, like i can't be as creative with my thoughts as i used to. but who knows, i've taken all kinds of drugs.

I'm not sure, as I've been smoking as long as I can really remember (13 years old)
If anything it made me break out of my shy self and nerdy persona I had as a young'n.
Also the people I met who smoked pot, were a lot more social than I was, and it got me involved in all the crap I'm surrounded by today I suppose.
Just going with the flow!

No, but I never really changed from what I was, so as far as I know, nothing has really changed, except for what I mentioned.
my actual childhood was weird, like any other kids, no one STAYS just like that.
So you can not blame pot for making you grow up.

I don't remember the majority of years between 13 and 17. I was strung out on coke, amps and oxies had a nervous breakdown. Now even from ages 8-11 I have very little memory of. I know I went through a lot of very hard times, lots of abuse and such. Untill I beefed up,got on coke and beat the blood out of any bullies at school, going on a crusade to avenge nerds for the way they were treated by bullies. I fought fire with stronger more well rounded fighting. Other then that I remember my gfs getting scared at times because I was out of control. Lots of dealing with death and poverty.
I thought to myself as long as I do as many drugs as I can maybe I can forget about this. I was right but I also don't remember the majority of my teenage years

It did the same to me when I was a stoner.

#BurnSomeTreesBeCancerFree
Did it ever cross your mind that that might of been withdrawal?
Weed does not cure cancer either, that's gotta be the most rediculous stoner myth ever. A shitty attempt at legalization.

When I was younger I was on some heavy anti depressants, and they where hurting me bad. Lowered sex drive, gaining weight (for the only time in my life), no motivation, suicidal thoughts... and if I missed only one pill I turned into a crack addict or something. Very bad.
So I got sick one day, and needed a lot of anti biotics to beat the infection. Since that made me feel fucked up and incapacitated me anyway, I thought it was the perfect time to quit the pills cold turkey. Yes, I was very dumb back then, why do you ask?
So all the bad went away in a few weeks, but the depression returned as well. I started self medicating with alcohol, because stupid, and was on a very dark path back then. And then some newly aquired mates shared a joint with me, and that was it. Finally something that actually worked!
Especially the first year of use was really great, there where almost no downsides whatsoever! But you know how it goes, first I only toked in the weekend, then it became three, four days a week, and one day I realized I haven't been sober in a long, long time.
At some point I was smoking way too much, way too often. The negatives really came to the forefront back then. The obvious was a bad memory. But more sinister was when you smoked too much the day before, and are pretty out of it the next day. I didn't like that at all, really.
So again, I quit cold turkey, but had no intention of quitting for good. After a month of abstaining, I felled I had a good handle on it. So now I'm using again, almost daily, too. I know it's bad for me, but it helps me so much getting trough all this shit in life, you know? I don't smoke nearly as much as I used to.. a fiver was once barely enough for an evening, but now I can stretch it to an entire week, no problem. It has become kind of a carrot on a stick for me, haha. Work hard during the day, and when I'm done, I get the reward of chilling out.
So at the moment it's going really well... but especially when weed is a good drug for you, you must always be on the lookout for signs that your habit is turning bad. When it does, just stop for a couple of weeks. It's not as hard as it seems, your brain can be a whining bitch about it, but if you can ignore that there is no problem.
Good luck to all you potheads out there, and remember that this is not just a plant but also a drug. It can be positive, but never forget that it can harm you as well.

Cannabis has been around me my entire life because my parents were/are really, really into it. I generally ignored it's presence until I was 26 when I tried it for the first it with a friend who was dying of cancer. It changed my opinion on the plant in a positive way because of the experiences we shared together. I also found that it was incredibly useful for putting an end to my insomnia, if only temporarily. It also removes all of my inhibitions.
I would say that it has made me more open minded, and willing to try new things.

I can see how it can make you content with not progressing or bettering yourself, I can also see how it being illegal for the most part overshadows a lot of negativity in different ways. You can pick out a lot of good and bad things about cannabis and its relation with humans, the one that stands out the most for me with chronic use is the disruption of sleep patterns. After having read and experienced how important it is to dream and for the body to be to access deep sleep or REM. I think after using long term particularly towards the time one goes to sleep, can off set necessary sleep patterns that we need in order to function, grow and learn optimally.
I really do enjoy cannabis, I must admit, in the past it has at times turned me into a little schmiegel especially when used too often for too long. I have another scary theory, and this may be different from person to person. I feel long term use and withdrawal can lead to depersonalization and other issues or disorders, although they may be minor. Either that or I am mistaking depersonlization with brain fog which may very well be the case. I went through what I think was a bout of depersonalization a few years ago,it was difficult to get through and I still have a bit more work to do, but it was nasty stuff. Though I guess I've always felt sort of lost- Balancing normal healthy living with cannabis use can be done, it's just kind of easy for one to go overboard with it. I've found vaporizing cannabis lessens a lot of the negative effects, it is by far my preferred method.

You can't just claim that from that one comment and him being on a psychedelic forum. I've been reading bitter cactus's posts for probably 2 years now and i think its safe to say it would have a lot more to do with weed than psychedelics as he doesn't trip very much. However BC has also done a very good amount of meth in his time here on the shroomery as well as benzodiazepines which could cause the anxiety.

Well, the chance of developing HPPD from just smoking pot is close to 0.
The chance of getting HPPD from even a very small amount of tripping experience is much greater, hell even from meth it would be more likely, I'm just not going to accept anyones opinion that their HPPD is caused purely by their consumption of marijuana unless they developed the HPPD prior to having ever consumed any other drug, which as far as I'm concerned, has never been a confirmed event. Everyone I've ever heard about who had HPPD had a drug history beyond just pot, so it seems reasonable to say that contracting HPPD just by smoking pot is unlikely.

yeah i can agree that pot probably wouldn't cause HPPD very easily. Lots of people actually have minor hppd from birth and a lot of people don't care or really notice.

If you have it from birth I don't think its Hallucinogen Perception Persisting Disorder.
Also important to note that HPPD is very poorly researched and not very well isolated from other possible mental conditions.
Also, everyone "perceives" visual abnormalities like floaters and white blood cells in your eyes, halos and stuff from bright lights, etc, that a lot of people don't notice.
