ID request from Melbourne, Australia
    #21685439 - 05/16/15 12:16 AM (8 years, 8 months ago)

Hi guys, I've been reading lots and getting really interested in all this, but these are the first specimens I've ever picked. Any help in identifying these would be much appreciated!

Habitat:
Melbourne, Australia. Growing in grass. There was no fallen timber or leaf litter or anything... just grass.

Gills:
Light yellowish colour, not attached to stem.

Stem:
Up to 5cm long. Only a few mm thick. Solid. Stringy. Light brown colour, maybe a little yellow.

Cap:
Diameter from 1cm up to about 4cm. Sort of a caramel brown colour. Smooth surface. Smaller caps were convex, almost hemispherical. Larger caps had flattened out and featured a prominent "nipple".

Spore print color:
White.

Bruising:
None.

Seems to fit the description, but these were definitely found in Melbourne! Haha. I didn't notice an obvious fairy ring, but I'll check the spot again, just to be sure...

Walked past the spot again today... one patch is now quite clearly beginning to look like a ring, but only about a metre in diameter. I presume that means it's a young specimen. Thanks again, Obtuse!
