"getting some boundries"

I've been listening to Terence Mckenna time-by time for more than a year and read one of his books, also done some drugs so i do have an idea about the topics that he talks about and i can dig him,but i don't understand him on this one. In this lecture, where he talks about fear durning the psychedelic experience,at 2:45,he says "most of us are over-boundary-defined,but some of us are having an uphill battle getting some boundaries in place" I dont get that, how can someone have a battle getting some boundries,I dont understand the very concept of it,what kind of people is he talking about? Boundries are what you are connected with on the level of emotionally, spiritually, impulsively, psychologically tied to something, right? "and realising we are not the telephone or the tree or the person we live with; and so for those people, who are having trouble establishing and moving boundaries, this is the last thing on Earth they should get involved with."
>>realising we are not the telephone or the tree What does that mean?

When you trip don't you ever become the rock your sitting on your something like that hehe. Or like even on MDMA you think your the other people and start touching them as if they were your self haha. The dissolution of boundaries isn't always overt I guess but it definitely can be. You become your ideas, you become your past, you feel at one with the environment. You melt into stuff. I dunno I'm not trying very hard but does this give you a sense of what he means? (prlly not lol)
It seems to me that you are using a different definition of boundary. A boundry is the extremity of a thing, as Euclid would say haha. Its like im going to draw this line and definite this as a thing. i.e. This is me, that is a tree, those are leaves, feelings are owned by me and not the leaves. The leaves do photosynthesis and not the bark which is that rough brown part. Boundaries are like definitions or something. There are prlly (at least i would hope so lol) better definitions of this in linguistics or philosophy books or something like that.
Some people have "mental diseases" that affects their boundaries and can affect other stuff too.

It's the blurring of boundaries due to psychedelics that's he's talking about, with the result that in ordinary reality things stop working "correctly". Many people find this very difficult to handle.

Damn, not really, its too weird, but when i get "dissolved",i usually become history...i guess its weaker for me,I would trip into the history of our species for example, and refer myself as our species,i would speak like for example "we had a strange life durning the time we lived on woods, when we left the trees everything changed",something like that.I would also become many things like history of universe,of plants, animals, ideal shaman societies, stuff like that. Thats probably because i love history,or because i dont loose my boundries that strongly,in fact im still aware of where i am as e person if i want to think about it.

In boundaries. Your sense of self, seemingly inherent.

Maybe he was just talking shot about the hippies with ZERO boundaries. All the hugging and promiscuous sex. Sharing everything they have and never saying no to anything someone says to them.
But primal soup was probably right.
