New arduino nano, possibly faulty?
    #21681583 - 05/15/15 02:06 AM (8 years, 8 months ago)

Hey guys I recently bought a cheapo arduino nano board off eBay, I haven't plugged it in yet as. Noticed that one of the soldered joins on one of the chips crosses another. Could this short circuit the board? Should I remove some solder to separate the two joins?

It might be hard to see in the pic. See the big chip there, it's the 3rd and 4th pin from the right.

That looks intentional to me.  Or maybe a drip fell while the person was working on it?  Whats up with that?

This is the problem with buying cheap Chinese knock-off shit on eBay and Amazon. If you're good with a soldering iron you could probably fix it though.

You will need to use a hot air soldering gun to remove that surface mounted IC. If you do it right you won't need to remove the IC at all, it will reheat the solder paste and sit uniformly along the pins.
Using a regular soldering iron will run the risk of making it even worse.

i separated it with a soldering iron, but the arduino doesn't work, ah well. i agree john nada, cheap knockoffs aren't worth it.
