My first tub. I cased this about 12 days ago, i think i went about 3/4" thick with the casing , a little thick and maybe a tad wet, but i just put the polyfil in today. How does it look to you guys? does it look healthy?

Yeah, it looks fine. I'd pasteurize just a little more casing material and patch it up a little around the edges and such.

Why patch the edges?

Because soo much blew through the casing, sometimes the sub has a hard time pinning without a casing so when it comes through thick like that it gets patched over.

But if it's cubes you may not even have to case, some do better with, some do better without. Trial and error

Nice I always wondered what they meant by patching.

I think the idea is that you want to get it all coming up at the same time, no?

Yup...patching the more aggressive myc that pops through first give the rest of the sub time to "catch up" ...people like to do it to get a more even pin set...it's not mandatory...

If you case (which isn't mandatory) and your myc pokes through too much you should patch. Otherwise you're gonna have different microclimates where the myc is showing and where it's covered.
