Fat jars in little PC

About to dive back in to another adventure in mycology. I have prepared WBS rinsed, heated, and loaded into quart jars as per Franks 12 steps to shrooms tek. However in my haste I realize my PC will only barely fits 3 jars and that's without a rack or lid rings on the bottom. I probably could sneak a towel or some foil under it with a few inches of water to hopefully prevent cracking the glass but would I be better off loading the grains into smaller jars? Hate to waste all this sub

tough call... the safe bet would be smaller jars... a little more effort and time but smaller jars seem to outweigh the chance of broken lost substrate.

Problem is the smaller size jars I have also would need all new holes drilled in the lids & polyfill repacked. Thinking about saying fuck it & going for it with the first 3 jars & seeing how it goes but I guess I need a bigger PC

Could you stack them in the pc? Honestly my 2 pcs fit 3 jars each. I pc for 2 hours with the rest of my jars chilling on the counter. After 2 hours I let the pcs lose the pressure naturally. When it's all gone I put on a sterile glove and transfer them to the still air box to cool and reload the pc for another 2 hours. Can go through a lot of spawn pretty damn fast but I just got some more pcs :P

Only got 2 quart jars to fit. It remains to be seen if the grains are still intact. 3 jars just wouldn't seal- not enough clearance. Looks Iike I'll be PCing the remainder of the jars over the next few days. Hopefully the hydrated grains will be ok- guess I'll have to nocc up the 2 that are done while I PC the next 2. Seems like a bad idea to wait a few days to nocc them all at the same time. Would rather take them right from PC to my SAB.

I'm in the same boat and have resorted to pint jars. 3 pint jars on the rack with plenty of water for 90min.
I've recently ordered a larger PC.

Well that was a total disaster....couldn't get the top off my PC because the too tall jars got lodged under the lid. Had to throw out the wbs I had prepared & make up all new shit & drill polyfill holes in lids of smaller jars but now I'm not sure I will have a good enough spawn to sub ratio- the tiny jars that fit in my tiny PC only hold a tiny bit of grains. They are knocked up now & maybe with some luck they won't get contammed. Saving up my loose change for that bigger PC....
But in the meantime it looks like I'll need to PC a bunch more jars - bought some bigger jars already that should fit but does it matter if I use spawn from different shroom varieties (syringes) in the same tub or will that end up as a mess? Was trying to use just one single syringe for this tub but guess plans have changed due to unforeseen circumstance.

Hey shroomers I wanna update this thread- it's been a long road to get here but my tub is now producing some nice boomers- they are a gorgeous color & very nice size fruits- I especially like these dancing tigers; they have orange caps with a pretty white border. The Mexi-albinos are equally beautiful & grow alongside them here and there as I only nocced one jar....I ran outta spores at the end - I can never squeeze just 10cc lol Anyways I got some visible trichoderma or some kind of green shit on one corner of my tub which is being consumed by the mycelium but I'm not sure is there's anything I can do about it....should I be worried? will the tub keep producing more flushes? Is it possible the myc will win the battle or is this tub doomed? Pics are coming soon as I take one

Lol yeah it was kinda like that when I tried putting huge jars in my PC -hence the title -but I managed to quickly get smaller jars and made up some more wbs sub which worked out great- just had to PC 8 small jars instead of 4 big uns. Finally got some nice fruits now but I'm concerned about the wierd green stuff growing on one section of the sub- pretty sure it's trich- I'll post a pic soon

I haven't run into trich yet (fingers crossed) but I hear it's a real bitch and anything green can't be good.

Actually looks like it's fading a bit - hmm is it possible it's just bruising? Looks more aquamarine than green - I've seen trich on cakes but not in a freshly harvested mono tub:

Bigger PC sounds like a plan. A presto 16 qt fits 7 jars comfortably with the spacer plate and is around $70.

I have a pc that must be your pc's twin brother. What I do is stick a wash cloth in the bottom, put 3 quart jars in at a time and it works out.

Don't know if anyone has recommended this but maybe you should do bags? You can fit a lot of grain in a smaller area with a bag. You just have to pc it for like 2.5 hours minimum if you put 3 or more quarts in it.

Well that's it- the trich is now consuming this tub; time to toss it out I guess; thinking I'm gonna try to bury the contammed sub in my backyard garden. At least I got a few zips of dry shrooms for the summer; thanks for chiming in y'all
