In my experience it has shown the less nutritious substrates seems to colonize faster and contaminate less. There seems to be more than enough nutrition for fruits, simply in the spawn itself, as I've seen amazing grows with people using 100% vermiculite as the bulk sub, and verm is nearly inert or even completely inert depending on who you ask. It's all about water.

Spawning to 100% vermiculite works well even with pf cakes. Left dry and mixed, it colonized quickly then can be dunked.
I prefer coir though, I think it can hold more water and extra nutrition is nice. I use 100% verm for mini-grows only.

Haha. Yea it took a lot of time. In a way, it was all just studying for a Thermodynamics exam so well worth the time. Turns out they're quite simple really. Didn't even need calculus lol...

Yeah, my wife was harvesting and I reminded her to take a pic. She said she couldn't find a place to start lol. She had to destroy a couple caps to get started.
