Wes Clark? Anyone heard of this guy?
    #2168009 - 12/08/03 03:43 AM (13 years, 8 months ago)

I just saw a series of commercials for Wes Clark, the Democratic candidate for President.  Anyone know anything about him.  Was the commercials hype ?

Anyway, the Democrats are trying to make Bush look like a puss because Clark saw action and took rounds, winning a silver star.etc....

Yes, where have you been? He entered the race ahead of all the other Democratic candidates. I had hope for him at first, but now he's starting to look kinda bad. Of all the candidates who have a chance of winning, I'm going with Dean. He's not as good a choice as Kucinich, but he's got a pretty good stance on most issues, is a pretty good debator, and has started a grass-roots fundraising program that's proving to be quite impressive.

Whether you like the man's politics or not, he's certainly got an impressive resume:

Graduated West Point in 1966, first in his class
Rhodes Scholar
2 Masters Degrees - Politics, Philosophy, and Economics (Oxford); Military Art and Science (Leavenworth Command and General Staff College)
Retired 4-star General
Among other military awards, the Silver Star, Bronze Star, Purple Heart
Honorary knighthoods from British and Dutch governments
Former Supreme Allied Commander in Europe for NATO

Incorrect. He was the last candidate to enter the race. He entered right around the time Graham decided to throw in the towel... like a day or two before.

It doesn't matter anyway. He has as much chance of getting the nomination as Larry Flynt.

Clark almost lost to milosevic in kosovo. If it had not been for milosevic surrenduring the situation could have grown much worse.

Clark almost started world war 3 when he ordered British paratroopers to confront Russian troops at the Pristina airport. The british general refused and lucky nothing resulted.

Also under Clark's leadership we bombed: a hospital for the mentally ill, a passenger train, a convoy of tractors and carts loaded with refugees, and the Chinese Embassy

He was at my school last month.

It seems like in the last few months he's gone from the biggest Bush supporter out there, to a hard-core democrat. Changes like that over night make me nervous

How do you know? I'm looking at his campaign website and I can't see any part where he mentions drugs(other than prescription drug benefits for seniors).

Dennis Kucinich is a Democrat and he's against the Drug War. And I have a friend who's former military(got a medical discharge) and he's a total pothead.

Bascially I can look at a guy and tell you weither he'll take your freedom for taking drugs. Kucinich I can see being open minded.

I enjoy watching the Democratic parties news. It's great fun trying to decide who will be the next person to lose to Bush. ;-)
