The spawn to sub ratio is 1:3. It was put into fruiting conditions a week ago. There are small uncolonized portions at certain areas of the tub probably due to poor mixing of substrate before the spawn run. I have been misting and fanning lightly about three times a day. The mycelium appears to be spotty all throughout the tub, but there are tiny pins at the top of the tub which is a good sign. Will it contaminate or is it still good?

Yea i wasn't sure if the spotty portion of the sub was an early sign of contamination or not?

if its a casing layer its doing exactly whats its suppose to. if its un uncased substrate, i would have waited until 100% colonization. but it seems to be lookin good brotha man. i would mist less on first flush.

Thanks man i first checked on the tub after 9 days after starting the spawn run. It was uncolonized at the top right of the tub and I let it consolidate for an extra 3 days. It didn't quite cover all the sub so I decided to just put it into fruiting before it dried out or contaminated.

Always wait for 100% colonization. If it starts pinning go ahead and introduce FAE. I'd expect contams of some type to pop up soon.

I'd put it in fruiting right now based off the pic. It's knotted up all over. It happens sometimes where there's bits that won't colonize from being too wet, especially on manure. During fruiting it dries it enough to colonize them. At least that's always been my experience.
Here's a tray I have right now that started knotting just like yours when I threw right into fruiting with uncolonized patches:

Looks good! Did you sterilize the straw and manure or did you pasteurize it? I want to try spawning my next two WBS jars to hpoo/coir/verm and I'm not sure which method works best.

Proper pasteurization! Always! You can't get away with anything else when it comes to straw and poo
