Colorado morel help!
    #21678155 - 05/14/15 08:52 AM (8 years, 8 months ago)

I've picked thousands of pound of chanterelle and Bolete in Colorado but have never found a morel.  I know that they are not prevalent in Colorado but really want to make the effort to find one these year.  Dose anyone have any experience find them in colorado ? If so what elevation, what type of  landscape and time of year?  Thanks for the help?

You need to be hunting along creeks. Right now the yellow morels are up in the plains areas, under the cottonwoods. Over the next few weeks you'll need to go higher into the mountains, where you'll find black morels mostly in mixed woods with aspen and lodgepole pine.

Happy mushrooming!
