Just started fruiting my APE. They were fully colonized about 3 1/2 weeks after inoculation. Im a first time grower and new to fungi cultivation. I would like all opinion and help and any techniques you all can share with me on the forum. Im new to posting forums as well so be easy on your fellow shroomite! Ill be uploading photos of my current fruiting chamber. I have 8 cakes of APE fruiting. I cased two brownie containers with holes for GE yesterday. Ill be uploading photos of everything soon. Please give me input. Thanks again!

Should learn to dunk those, crumble them, and case them. Takes a little longer, but you will get more fruits. Also, posting in the cultivation forum is what you should do. Congrats on good looking cakes though.

You get more yield if you do in my experience. I think it increases the surface area of the grow area. It protects the mycelium from pathogens and water droplets as well. Its also more natural for fruiting. The my celium breaks through the ground to light and oxygen to fruit.

Why not jus do grainspawn to bulk sub and then case that if you wish? Whats wrong with the good old dunk n roll? Idk bout breaking up a brf cake jus to case it idk. What do you put it in a tray in a shotty or like a tub or what?

Isnt it hard to break up the cakes into a nice even layer to case? You jus do one cake at a time or are you like putting all your eggs in one basket?

Yeah i just do grain now too. But to answer your question i put it in a shallow Tupperware (tray)and put that in a fruiting chamber. Its kind of an intermediate tek between a bulk grain and pf. Bulk grain is basically a cake that breaks up too really. Both brf and grains grow back together quickly once it broken up.

It breaks up a little rougher, but not enough to make a huge difference. You can still get it pretty even. You can combine them. Depends on the size of your tray. I guess you could make a bunch and just line the bottom of a big tupperware if you wanted.

But yeh Illium I would recommend starting a grow log about your grow in the mushroom growlogs and pictures forum. Its found here http://www.shroomery.org/forums/postlist.php/Board/30 Youll be able to get alot more quality advice there as you grow progresses. The Pub is really just a place for laid back general discussion and the mushroom cultivation subforums are were people talk cultivation.

I have plenty of colonized caked bro. I am also not worried about breaking it up and the bulk sub. Honest the BRF works well and I dont mind it. Thanks for your advice. Also Thanks for the input with the cake misting. In the picture where both cakes are sitting in a tray they are about to be put into the sterile BRF and broken up the reason i used so much Myc in the BRF is because its quicker colonization.
My other question is should I always dunk and roll even if they are fresh out of the jars from colonization?
One last question I have for you wonderful shroomites is do I mist the cakes directly? Because the box is at 99% humidity and is equipped with an FAE pump with HEPA filter. With that going 6 times a day should mist the cakes themselves?
Now that you mentioned it they do look somewhite dry and now that i think of the FAE pump going every 6 hours maybe misting would be a great idea because the air might be drying them out... please give me input here you guys! Lol.
Is there anyway I can move this thread to another location?
