boosting baby shiitake

baby shiitake

Finally got a proper pinset, first batch after longer sterilisation times. Blocks are popcorning nicely and myceliumcovering is much better than old blocks. But....although I got lots of pins the mushrooms that grow out of it are tiny. So my contaminated blocks give about the same yield as the clean bloks. Somebody any ideas how I can grow bigger shrooms on my shiitake blocks?
weight of wet block 2.6 kg, spawnrate 3%, bran 10 %, water 65%, incubation 2 1/2 to 3 months.

Old contaminated block

Those shiitake babies look impressive just the way they are.  They are from the same culture/source/strain as the old block?

Are there any other different variables between your old and new blocks such as temp, FAE, humidity, spawn/supplement ratios, etc...

Yes they are from the same strain(mycelia.be)that I kept in my old fridge for three years now. I thought myc was getting weak but it seems to perform still pretty good. Shroomery pointed out that sterilisation was my problem and not the myc. In the latest batches I've increased the spawnrate significantly (12 %) May be that'll boost my babies a bit more! Operation costs will not be the same though! Any other shiitake doping ideas?
