I've had this graft for a while now and it's finally beginning to take shape. The seedling was grown from this pack of seeds-

My hope was that this was a Saguaro, but after some google image searches it looks like it may be a barrel variety. What might you all think?

At first glance, if I hadn't read the list of possibilities, I'd have guessed at an Echinocereus sp.

I'd say that you can safely guess that it's not Opuntia relative. But that could have been said for first instance when you sown seeds. Opuntia seeds are easily recognizable

Appreciate your input, guys. Just found a few sources that have similar seedlings to mine that point towards Saguaro.

I might just have to wait a few years to find out for sure.

That's a nice looking barrel cacti mane!! How old is it and what kind of soil was used?

I agree with Mostly. Looks like it's taking the shape of Echinocereus Grusonii. (golden barrel)

Ok dude did you take a pic of the young seedling before you grafted it? If so I can tell you without a doubt if it's a saguaro.

I can tell without looking at non-grafted pictures that it's not a saguaro. It's E. grusonii.

Thanks for the help you guys. Looks like my suspicion was correct. I have another seedling that came from this mixed packet who's identity is still unknown.

Back with an update. I appreciate everyone's help to identify this plant, but I still haven't given up hope that it may be a Saguaro. When google image searching for Saguaro seedlings I keep seeing plants with the same amount of spines and color as mine. Here is my plant-

Here are supposed Saguaro seedling images I've found using a quick image search-

I hope you don't mind but this may help you some. These are 2 pics of my Saguaro graft.

I say it's a saguaro because it comes from a bag of seed I got labeled Carnegiea gigantean although I received them in a trade awhile back I do believe they were what he labeled them.

I don't mind at all. Thank you for posting your photos, they only further lead me to believe that my scion is in fact Carnegiea gigantea as well.

Back after two years with an update on this cactus. It is growing very slowly. I am now fully convinced it is Saguaro.

Compared with google image searches of young saguaro seedlings.
