The guy who refused to sign up for the Affordable Care Act

Here's a well written story about a guy who refused to sign up for the Affordable Care Act. Obviously, he's regretting that decision now. Actually, he's not. Now he's hating on it even more.
See man hate ACA. See man refuse to get ACA. See man whine that he can't get ACA.
Quote:
Lang, a Republican, says he knew the act required him to get coverage but he chose not to do so. But he thought help would be available in an emergency.
For the record, "thinking help would be available in an emergency" is otherwise known as "BUYING INSURANCE".
So, this guy spent years refusing to get insured when he could afford to do so, votes for & supports the political party which put him in his current situation, so naturally...wait for it...
He and his wife blame President Obama and Congressional Democrats for passing a complex and flawed bill.
I hope you guys are smarter than this.

It only helps those who sign up.

Why, the Republican plan is genius! Deny care to those who can't pay for it, they get sick, they die, problem solved. They're poor anyway, so they're less than human.

He's crazy, they had nothing to do with it.

“My husband should be at the front of the line because he doesn’t work and because he has medical issues,” Mary Lang said last week. “We call it the Not Fair Health Care Act.”

The interesting thing is that if you read the comments of the donors on his Go Fund Me Site, almost all the people donating are liberal.

After he goes blind he can apply for Social Security Disability. He probably won't get it without a major hassle and appeals. And the Repubs want to cut Disability by 20%. Oh wait, he is a Republican so he should be opposed to getting it at all.
So a condition that could have been treated and prevented now becomes a SSDI claim costing hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Lifelong Republican Turns On His Party, Embraces Obamacare
Quote:
“Now that I’m looking at what each party represents, my wife and I are both saying — hey, we’re not Republicans!” Lang said. He added that, though he’s not a political person by nature and has never voted solely along party lines, he wants to rip up his voter registration card on national television so Americans will have proof that he’s making the switch.

I think it's more like - we're not expanding Medicaid for purely political reasons, but see how many sick poor people we have (Florida) it's Obamas fault!

What are you going to do if you get hit with unexpected medical bills to the tune of tens or even hundreds of thousands of dollars?

Easy to say until you need help.
The guy above felt the same way, until he was faced with the choice of going blind or mooching off others that already paid into insurance. He chose to mooch rather than live with the consequence of his poor choice.

I've had a policy for years.
