Got up to our SEPA spot yesterday. Was a long day hiking around with some friends. Everyone was able to find some really nice fruits.  Most were white with long stems (3.5" average with longest stem 5"), and found growing mostly in the grass/marigold/nettle.  Out of those 3 I'd have to say the marsh marigold is my least favorite to look thru. If you are able to see one poking out then it's usually beneficial to dig thru it.  Otherwise I tend to leave it be and stick to the areas with stilt grass.  It'd be nice to see huge logs fruiting, but I know that won't happen until we get the needed rain.  But here's some shots of what I came across

Nice finds! But dude... you're in hallowed Caerulipes territory, ever consider hunting for them?

I'm actually in Bmore, but yes I have been considering them for a couple years now.  We had just taken a trip to Southern WV and then, on a whim, drove further NW before heading back home.  Just wanted to put our territory finding skills to the test and also enjoy the west appalachia scenery for a day longer.  I'm hoping it's not an elevation thing with them, but now we have a good reason for another road trip in a couple months.

Nice! Is that this years?  We haven't had a chance to check DC area.  Looked further up the river with no luck.  I would like to know how far up they go.  Hell, I really just need to locate the one's supposedly in my county. It's a timely risk to go somewhere new though when you already know where they are and how they grow there.

Yes.  That's from Monday (2 days ago).

I agree.  It's hard to scope out new spots when you have proven spots to look in instead.

Sure do like those nipply SE Pa. finds...they're very sexy...lol.
Here are some Balto. Cty. finds from yesterday...On some of the pics...you can actually see the lesser celandine dying and even rotting...allowing the long stemmed ovoids to poke through.

I just noticed the 4th pic has a baby kudzu vine in it....by the ebd of summer, that sucker will be 50 feet long.

Went out again today.

They ranged from pins to nice pristine to too far gone:

Found a couple imposters.  Any idea what they may be?  Printing at the moment.

For those who are in need of some more habitat shots:

Today's keepers:

Spore water:

Stem butts and old mushrooms:

The spore water, stem butts and old mushrooms went into a woodlover smoothie:

And then promptly poured into a potted plant with mulch.  Hope it takes hold.  :mushroom2:

Right on.  Maybe they'd be easier to find than I thought. Those saucer caps can really hide from me sometimes.  Those from today look nice and fresh. Really digging the last pic with the wavy cap.  We went out for a couple hours today and didn't see much either.

Did you really find those somewhere right near me? :oldman: That's really cool! :super: I've thought about but never checked out around the city limits.  I do have a couple ideas where to look though.  On a side note, I think I was confusing the celandine for marigold.

Not sure about these because I'm new to finding mushrooms, but they were in a flood plane, growing in wood chips just after a little rain in Chester County Pa. Habitat, geography, and time of year seem right. I can return tomorrow to take better pics too. They did not bruise blue, however.

How long before these will be printable?  I've tried a few that looked like that with fail and waiting longer the slugs get em.  They are the sole survivors.  BTW I hope I'm not making them blue like that by pouring water on them.

They look ready to me.

What is your printing method?  They need some gas exchange while printing.  When they dry out a bit over 24-48 hours is best.

Keep them humid but drying out at the same time.  Water logged mushrooms don't print well.

I suggest not sealing them up.  They need to breath.  It's much better to put them on foil on a paper towel and cover them with a cup or something.  Let the cup overlap the edge of the foil so it doesnt seal.  Don't try to get so sterile.  Agar is easy to work with.

I went out hunting for the first time this season yesterday and few a ton of new patches and I haven't even made it to my main spot yet! I got 1762 grams and wasn't even able to pick everything I saw! I did get a shit ton of stinging nettle on my hands. I'm definitely bringing gardening gloves on my next hunt. Here are some pics:

Most of the ones I picked were from this patch and I wasn't able to pick all of it.

Didn't have time to pick this patch.

Total haul. The rest of the paper bag ended up taking up 3 and a half more racks.

Yeah, I thought so....the lesser celandine flowers yellow in early spring and has around 8-12 petals on each flower. This shit has covered all my prime spots in the last couple years...I think last years floods redistributed it all throughout the flood plains. They have little "bulblets" on their stems that enables them to reproduce like crazy. The only good thing is that it dies off early (around now).

Anyway, they are around for sure....started finding them fruiting in debris piles tonight...lots of little pins and die-offs from the lack of moisture....If we get a couple days of steady rain....watch out! I'm done for the spring for all intents and purposes....going on a fly fishing trip in northern Pa for a week and won't be back until after Memorial day....they're typically gone by then. I'm gonna try a dose ...alone and deep in the woods. I try to do this every year.....so Good luck to everyone out there for these last couple weeks ! :sunny::peace::dancingshroom:
