Hey there y'all! I have been really interested in staring a little loph garden, but have no experience growing button cacti. I was wondering if anyone has recommendations on any good books or PDF files on growing peyote. Thanks!

If you search for threads by "Intelligentlife", he has written some nice guides and growlogs for lophs. That'd probably be a good place to start. I'm sure others will link you to some other literature on the topic as well.

Hi Lostsmiles
Equipment for Growing Lophophora seeds to plants is quite easy to find and not too much expensive
You will need : ° Seeds (Of course) ° Containers , or seeds trays, where to put your seeds (it can be as cheap as a yoghurt cup) ° Medium (soil made of good percentage of inerts 70-80% (minerals, riversand, perlite) , and a bit of organic 20-30% (Coco coir) ° Humidity (that can be provided with enclosure (it can be humidity dome or just freezer bags)) ° Light ( any non incandescent Light, as Energy saving bulbs. a 25 W lamp can be enought for 1 square foot / 30 square cm ) ° Timer (24 h Cicles are to be avoided as you may want to give your seeds at least 6 hours of darkness. Unless you want to do it manually)
Extra features ( not strictly necessary but helpful)
° Heating mat (Heat is good for seeds to germinate. really useful for cold seasons or climates,) You are from Jamaica? You don't need this.
° External enclousure ( Putting all your trays/baggies/containers inside a box with the lights will keep them more enlighted (Since no light is wasted around) and also provides extra heat)
° Fungicide ( A product you may want to use to avoid mold formation and seedling casualities) even a microwawed or boiled soil/medium sometimes develops a bit of mold, since there's a humid enviroment)

Unfortunately I am not in Jamaica Haha I am in the USA, on the west coast, where it does get cold but very rarely freezes. My house doesn't get bellow 60 at night but i will definitely pick a heat mat up! I could also use that for my mushies. Sounds like I have most of every thing I need except the light and seeds. How long is your average germination time, and at what temp?

Last batch I germinated took right at a week, maybe 6 days. But then a few more tend to pop up over the next few days, too.
I'm not sure what temps exactly are perfect, I have just used a reptile heating pad with success.
