Shiitake Sawdust Spawn for inoculation ready or not?

Hi everyone,
how do i know that the mycelium inside this sawdust bag is fully colonized in order to inoculate it in logs? It is one month old and i think it is not growing any more (not sure), do i have to wait to be completely white?
Thanks A.

What makes the mycelium to spread 100% on the surface of the sawdust? The bags with reduced (stalled healthy) surface mycelium is an effect of a weak or insufficient injected mycelium?

Did you buy the sub or did you prepare it yourself? How long has it been incubating? Seems ready to go in the logs. When I got spots not covered by myc. on substrate blocks it is usually a sterilisation problem.
good luck with your Greek shiitake

here's one of my last logs fruiting. They're a bit worn out, not many mushrooms!

maybe the moisture content of your sawdust was off... or it just needs extra time. was the bag resting on side 2? could be from lesser air exchange.
whats with the red circle in the first picture, was it a contam. spot?

I bought the bag ready and i placed it inside an egg incubator at 25C-26C (was not going lower) with a cup of water inside to keep moisture. Also i made some holes at the bottom left and right for air & co2 exchange.
The bag was resting on the side with the empty mycelium hole. And the past 4 days i have it up side down. The red circle was just a mark at the beginning of growth. it is one month old now and i can see some moisture drops inside.

p.s i hope mine will grow like those you have!! the left one

I think you can break it up to inoculate your logs. The area without grow is probably due to the fact that you laid it on its side. Like poofterFroth already suggested its probably less AE. But if you bought the bag you should have a filterbag, no need to poke holes in it. Air exchanges by the filterpatches build in the bag. If you poke holes in it you leave way for nasties to sneak in. You can do that with oysters but not with shiitake. But it seems you got away with it because the bag was already well colonised, I guess.

Ok, this weekend i will. Also today i saw from the pics last week that there is a small difference of growth, not to much.Is it better to wait a little bit more or not?

I'm afraid that if you wait any longer you'll have difficulties breaking it up and put it in your holes.

i don't see any significant growth to be honest. But the mycelium feels like a sponge now, is it going to be harder if i leave it more days even it is not expanding?
