oats....
    #21673189 - 05/13/15 02:58 AM (9 years, 8 days ago)

Im about on my 5th grow with em.. and they are the best grain i ever used...

One thing thay happens ...only on 2 jars..after c9mplete colonization and consolodation... water pools underneath the grains... i suspected it to be a bactirial contam.. my question is is does this sometimes happen with oats...

I did an experiment..

I had a done pe6 tub..after a SOLID 2 fushes....it produced 2.5 z. It got a little..soggy and stoped producin... so added my suspect jar that had water in it.. to realy dry it up.. sure enough they smelled awesome..so smashed that old 2 flush tub of pe6 with my cambos... 1 qt...
Looked today and holy fuck after 3 weeks in dark..

Apperently it realy wasnt bactirial just cuz after consolidation it pooled with water...am i wrong?

So you can mix different grains and strains into one monotub and they would still produce flushes?

That sounds awesome

That in itself was an experiment... cool that ya noticed i mixed them..

The big one was 39gs.. i may take a print or 2 of this..... my fav would be pe6 and cambos in equal parts... its the best trip... that i found yet.. pe6 for visuals cambos for the longevity and body buzz..imo..

That pe6 tub was toast... i just spawned 1 qt of a cambo clone into it breaking it all up.. my tubs are 1/2 a mono btw.. i use a gh

A successful one at that no? Cambodians are my favorite, I got a spore print from the give away and will spawn them to agar once summer is out of the way.

Sadly I do not have AC and my apartment gets quite hot so I have a few months with no shrooming hehe

I will give a shot at PE once I gain some more experience. I read that it is quite troubling and a slow colonizer

Hmmmm, it could be very well that both strains were competing with each other for nutrients and one over took the other. My suspicion is that since PE has a slower colonization rate it didn't have enough time to establish itself and as you said, is being eating by the cambodian strain.

Next time try two strains with the about the same colonization rate and see how they fare. My guess is they would share the tub but I still eventually one will over ride the other

I wonder if it's possible to splice two strains together

It's impossible to make a hybrid this way. They'll just compete for the substrate. This isn't because it's different strains. It's different genetics.

You can see by putting spores from the same strain on agar and it'll branch into sections, competing for the agar. We isolate within the sections to get a single genetic that won't compete.

if you want a hybrid you must make a spore from 1 strain germinate with a spore from the other strain.

The healthier younger mycelium will always win when in competition with the older one. Also those mushrooms look mangled and starved of fae. I hope they weren't in the gh :frown:

SINCE it wasnt contamed.... i said FUCK IT ill add a suspect jar to this waterloged old tub.. yes diffrent varrietys.....it wasnt my intention to spawn the qt jar of cambos in a pe6 tub to help it along... lol... as i said either the cambo after i smashed up the qt in that tub just took total control...wich im sure thats it sinc3 they look like cambos.. just as i was expecting just cant beliv3 the growth...

I understood it all.. Was just informing it won't make a hybrid. It's actually not too surprising because in the life cycle of manure it will get taken over by tons of different molds all in succession from each other.

Also I can't tell what looks like cambo or pe6 they look the same to me lol.

I'm still wondering why they look so starved of fresh air

A noticible diffrence...
Here..

Pe6

Cambos

To me they look diffrent.. blobs in pe6 a little not associated with cambos. Maybe cuz i grew em i can tell i guess

Pe6 is a little more potent.. but the longgevity of the cambos edges the pe6 out according to reviews of me and a few friends.. cambos and pe6 combined is the best... that iv had...anyway

So essentially it's lighter capped. I see.

It's pretty dang cool nonetheless. Curious if the cambos are showing more though because maybe it requires less fae than the pe6. It's so hard to tell sometimes. Still it does seem cambos thrive more in that environment you had them in. If you ever decide to try this again, try it in a more ideal environment and compare the results. For science! :P
