I was prescribed buspar or buspirone and I didn't really take it for long because it gave me unpleasant "brain zaps".  Other than that it seemed ok, definitely not recreational, and I wasn't on it long enough to really gauge how well it works.  I still have a full bottle sitting in the cabinet and even if I am very depressed or anxious (what I was rx'd it for) I don't even consider taking it, so it can't work that well.

Yeah I've actually never experienced them on a regular basis except for on that drug.  It's not like the most unpleasant thing in the world, but it would also make me dizzy and feel like I was going to pass out sometimes, so like I said I gave it up pretty quick.

I don't think this is a common problem with it though, so make up your own mind if your doctor wants you on it, or if it is a common problem I have no idea why they prescribe crap like this.  Like I go in and ask for 2 weeks of ambien but "no that will surely ruin your life here is six months worth of trazodone refills I want you to take this every single night" ok

i was on citalopram and buspar for like 9 months. along with risperidone/benzatropine

the buspar didnt do anything i dont think. the citalopram helped alot though. once i felt good enough to quit the meds i did a little taper and stopped

over all id say it was worth it, it got me out of a really bad place
