Achieving Multiple Flushes

any tips on inducing better yeilding flushes?? i had an amazing first batch on a casing, and the next growth was pitiful.

look in to dunking your caseing. also what are you useing for a caseing layer? verm., choir, 50/50?

If you go the the way of dunking, you'll want trays with drainage holes.



If you go drainage holes, you better put in an inert layer, i.e. a 60/40 so the substrate isn't exposed to the open air.



Following pics of direct-to-the-fruiting-chamber. If you incubate/patch, you will get a more even pin set in 1st flush.

A first flush
(note: no dunking until after 1st flush)...



Dunk over night underwater, brick on top to hold it down. Let it drain, re-patch lost 60/40, back to the fruit terrarium.



2nd flush...



Dunked again, 3rd flush.



Dunked again 4th flush.



Dunked again, a 5th flush starting...



Another tray, 2nd flush. It too was dunked after 1st flush. The 1st flush on this one was a little disappointing, but it made ground in the 2nd & 3rd flush.



Again dunk. 3rd flush...



You can keep going and dunk each time. Here's a 7th flush.



When it's all over, the case has shrunk. It's spent.



One thing you'll note doing this, the 1st flush is generally the big show. But it can get a little odd after 2nd flush i.e. a 3rd flush may even be better than a 2nd one. You should get 100 grams dry shrooms or better (in sum of flushes) out of 500 grams millet.
