Lol this is basically a type of cinnamon mold. Toss it. Funny cause that was my first contaminant on my first cake so I know how you feel.

Interesting part is my shotgun fruiting chamber resides in the same room as a few 1bbl beer fermentation vessels. The growth looks amazingly like dry yeast.

I did a search for cinnamon mold and came up blank, can you give me some kind of source for details? Very interested about where this came from and how I prevented in the future.

I don't think I saw cinnamon mold in the "How it should and shouldn't look" post. The fact that this happened after he dunked it has me worried. Wtf causes it? I was thinking yeast too.

Oh! That may be possible but it's just as likely to be from something else. Like the tap water you dunked it in. Seriously if a cake contams, it's because the mycelium shit the bed. Next time try cleaner water, but I kinda think if it got like that, it was bound to happen sooner or later.

Do I need to be concerned about contamination of my sgfc?
I've pitched the cake but it was exposed to the sgfc and other cakes for about 24hrs.
Multiple cakes were dunked together, do I need to be worried about fruits from the other exposed cakes?
I checked all remaining cakes this morning and see no signs of it at this point.

I wouldn't worry too much about it spreading but if there are others that shared the circumstances that may have led to the contamination I'd keep an eye on the rest of batch.
