Bathroom a good place to inoculate?
    #21649761 - 05/07/15 04:26 PM (9 years, 13 days ago)

I have a small bathroom in an apartment, I removed everything i could from the bathroom and then sprayed 91% alcohol all over the room several times, then I inoculated rye grains that were sterilized and had filter disks in the tub with the curtain pulled having sprayed lysol disinfectant all over, I wore a mask and gloves and flamed my needle between inoculation. Any room for contamination you guys see? I've had a lot of contam problems but that was in my Victorian moldy 100 year old house.

The only possible other thing I see that could've been done would be to have built up humidity beforehand (like, with running hot water) so that any particles in the air would settle down and be less inclined to float around and contaminate things.
Otherwise, it sounds great! Definitely way more than I've done to ensure contaminant prevention lol.
Good luck!

You'll be good but seriously man all that work when you can just take 5 minutes to do this and bleach it? I live in a 1970s farm house with over 95% success using this exact thing. Leave the jars to cool in it and I just use the arm holes I pulled out as a way to seal it.

Here's my first one I had a 95% success rate with. I got 2 more bigger ones now.
