Happy Autumn, all.
This week I went for a bike ride up into the stunning temperate rainforest of the Otway Ranges (and back down again ).
Here are some of the things I found. IDs would be great. I have a few ideas but I am always eager to learn more about all the fungi that grows in the Otways. As usual, click the images for v. high res. versions. Enjoy.
1

2 - I thought this was a puffball, but IIRC I popped open another specimen and it had gills. Growing in sandy soil.
3 - Paneolus sp? Found in a swampy clearing, high up, very wet, growing through very long grass. Sheep around.

4 - Macrolepiota procera or Amanita sp? Found lots of these. Very beautiful.

5 - No idea what these are but they look tasty.

6 - As do these.

7 - Crappy photo, but it gives an idea of what the forest floor looks like up there. Freaky.
8 - Shout-out to the smallest mushroom I have ever found.
Habitats.
Dreamy.

Had a more prosaic bushwalk the next day. Finds:
9 - Methinks these are a delicious Agaricus but I don't know how to ID those.

Meaty!

10 - I thought Clitocybe nuda, then I noticed the brown tinge on the gills near the center, so maybe this is a Cort. Not sure.
Hey little buddy!
11 - Some kind of Earth star.

12 - Big booty Bolete.
13 - Weird texture on these.

14 - Yet another cute photobomb.
This was on the top of the same tree. Above head height over a path. Cute spot.
15 - These are everywhere.

16 - Funky red thing. Maybe Mycena.
Fun! As a side note, I got whipped in the eye by a fern leaf and contracted a viral conjunctivitus as a result. Gotta keep myself warmer and dryer next time. Be careful in the bush!
Thanks for reading. Looking forward to Winter.

Good pictures!
You could make them even better by using the flash less and instead carry reflectors and a tripod. If you are going to flash things, use a ring flash.
1) Agaricus 2 - 3) The Panaeolus looks like P. acuminatus. 4) There are a few Macrolepiotas in Australia, see http://nature.berkeley.edu/brunslab/papers/vellinga2003_aust.pdf 5) Clitocybe gibba group 6) Gymnopus 7 - 8) Micromphale 9) Agaricus 10) Clitocybe nuda 11) Geastrum 12) Boletales 13) Lycoperdon 14) Mycena 15) Stereum 16) Cruentomycena viscidocruenta

Awesome job Alan, thank you!
Re: Paneolus, I forgot to mention I took a spore print. Black spores, so I think your ID is accurate.
Re: photo tips, I do a lot of what you might call "street photography", so my camera is a Ricoh GR; not the best choice for mushrooms. The prime wide-angle lens is comparatively shabby for macro, and the stock flash is of course awful, but it's very dark in them there rainforests, and while I could buy a hotshoe flash, most are larger than the camera itself and it looks and feels absurd. My next bit of kit will be a small tripod. Thanks for the compliment and advice though.

Cool finds. That looks like an incredibly beautiful place.
The Macrolepiota are M. clelandii and 7-8 look like a Marasmius species (compare with Marasmius crinis-equi)

Thanks for the Macrolepiota clarification, TimmiT, and I think you're right on the Marasmius too. Yes it is my favourite place. ^^
I decided to throw up a few bonus photos I dug up. These are from February this year.

Pretty cool gym cluster. Plus a leech. Eek! Anyway, thanks for looking, you guys.
