It seems to be curling a bit more. Black tipped on most of the leaves. I assume it is due to the stress of shipping and acclimation. Some overall wilting, but not enough for me to make a humidity dome. Supposedly these were grown without much humidity, however, it was in a humidity dome (bottle) during the shipping process.
I contacted the seller, but havent gotten a response yet. Hopefully the plant lives for a long time

When it gets into a new environment it often sheds its leaves and new ones grow back

Seems like it is doing badly. Extremely wilted within past 10 hours. Just put it in a humidity dome (ie plastic bag with water spray). Didnt think that step was necessary, as they were grown in low humidity and it did not wilt after removing it from the bottle packaging. Last ditch effort though. I was going to wait until it wasnt stressed out to replant into a standard container, but maybe that would help? Any ideas?
Wish these things werent so expensive

I would guess it is dying back because of the humidity dome in transport, it was probably necessary to make sure it didn’t get crushed, as said leaves die back and new growth forms so long as the roots are happy and you’ve got some sort of healthy green plant material in proper climate... however I am no good at making that happen.

So you think adding the humidity dome was a good step? Thanks

I think it was good for shipping I think if you KNOW the plant was grown in low humidity then it may be a misstep to leave it in the dome However, it could be grown in humidity and taking it off will be an issue. You really gotta go based off its origin compared to your climate.
From searching “wilting” in the thread search

ZombiWurm said: At least these plants want to live lol. I've never seen a plant struggle to hold on to life like that Salvia plant did. She gave me a couple leaves too which I ate most of and tried rooting the others. I think I messed up acclimating my cuttings to my environment. My cuttings thrived in a humidity dome but died instantly when removed. I mean instantly like I watched the plant go from happy and upright to drooping and dead in like 2 minutes.
For acclimating what I do is remove the rooted cutting from the humidity container. Then I'll keep an eye on it. Once it begins to wilt I'll place it back in the container. Next day it's no longer Wilty I'll take it out again. Wait till it wilts and place it back again. Generally it seems each time I pull it out it will take longer and longer to wilt. After 3-5 days of this treatment it stops wilting. And the plant is fine. No need to mist or anything like that.
Maybe alternating the dome is the answer

Yea, I figured it didnt need the humidity dome because it did not have the immediate type of reaction as described above. Decided to try now due to the state of things. Ill keep an eye on it to see if it changes. I dont want to get it too acclimated to humidity
Thanks

Thanks m8. Appreciated
It has actually regenerated a lot. This could be either due to humidity dome, watering, more ambient light etc or all combined. This is a relief because it seemed close to death

Yes, I appreciate those words. Have to think a bit broader and long term.
Currently I believe the issue was just water. It is out of the dome and fine. If it works out, then I will happily send plants or point people to the seller

Good resource:
https://sageseeds.info/
https://sageseeds.info/tutorials/
Also, does anyone have info about staking? I see Sea Mac suggests doing that in the second link. He has like 8 feet tall salvia. Im curious if he started out with the 8 foot pole or used small ones and replaced them as they were outgrown

I have some 8ft plants as well. I started with small ones and replaced them as it grew.
And I used those same links to help produce my seeds!

Is this white stuff anything to be concerned with? Comes off if I drag a nail lightly over it. Maybe it is sediment from water? Although I have been using distilled H2O. Might need a better pic...

Update: Idk what that white stuff is still, but its probs sediment. I learned browning leaves is fairly standard when they are stressed but that it should be resilient. Have some leaf miners on some leaves but dont expect them to spread. Discovered that too much sun will cause the leaves to become more hardened and crocodile-skin-like. Overall, lots of changes and micro-issues, but the plant is resilient and I am worrying less despite its non-ideal conditions
On another note, seems like my dirt is staying damp for 5+ days. Gonna cut some side holes in the pot. Maybe redo the dirt and add more perlite or whatever it is that I have

LOL RIP Herman Cain. There is a subreddit dedicated to him, for uhh, awards doled out to people who ended up in his situation. That's the guy in the GIF if anyone is wondering. He poopoo'ed COVID restrictions and lock downs and died of COVID.
Anyway, Salvia! That's pretty neat.
