Ska Maria, the Diviners Sage or just Sally, whatever it wants to be called, let's call it here. She's a particular girl but when she's happy, she'll show you, let's show her here.
Like the other unite threads let's talk about YOUR grow, and your questions, cultivation issues, problems or tips. Anything Salvia D goes so take some pics of your babies and post 'em!
The floor is open...

Hi there. Any way I could coax one of you guys into sending me a cutting? Live plants are legal in tn but I can't find a store that sells them or will order them for me. I haven't had salvia as an adult, and I'd love to add it to my collection of fun plants! Let's see those pics!

Let me start it off.
My modest Salvia indoor garden, expanding weekly with more clones. All from Sonya and Sophia's mother, which started 4 years ago from a small cutting I had acquired.
Right now, I'm pleased to say they're very happy

Woo hoo! Good to see a thread like this started! A lot of my old pics got deleted apparently but here is one of my sallies that is now my 'producing' mother plant.

Damn now I wish I had one. Grew it 3 times and and 3 strikes I was out. But it's a beautiful teaching plant. Lovely stuff guys.

Thanks ! But instead of thinking 3 strikes, think of it as the 3rd inning of a 9 inning game

Mind me asking how much did you pick up your plants for? I might have to buy another and don't want to pay $40+ for a tiny plant.

The prices are totally variable, $40 isn't the highest I've seen.

True, I've seen higher but $40 is the avg. for a small plant.

Here is my plant. Since going into the grow box it's growth has been super fast and it's showing new growth almost everywhere. The downside is I've just had my second OP since November and it's hard to keep the humidity up when you cant move around very well, which I think is what's causing the browning.

I've also picked a few of the smaller leaves that weren't getting much light but aside from that I've just been watering when wilting and keeping the humidity up, usually it'll fall to ~ 40 rh and I mist that back up to like 80 which will keep it high for pretty much all day.

Some nice, dense growth there, Muhfreedoms! Looks like a happy plant.
I myself have good success cloning sallies, but I want to pick the brains of some of you who also successfully and regularly clone yous. How long do you guys usually make your cuttings (both in a measure of length and measure of nodes)? I've been normally doing 4-5 inch pieces that are 3-4 nodes apiece. I'm thinking the next batch I do I might sacrifice number of cuttings for size of cuttings and go a bit longer. Seems like once my medium-small cuttings get rooted and are planted, they stall for a short while before taking off. I'm curious if I started with longer cuttings to begin with, if that initial stallout after planting will be reduced and in the end, I would end up with more plant mass quicker- even though for larger cuttings I would have less of them. Opinions?

Size of cutting depends on mood, and mother plant size at the time.. for me. Some of the larger cuttings, may be a little troublesome at first to root, if you're only rooting with water. because of their large leaves, they droop and are fatigued more so than a smaller cutting with 4 small leaves. Having a good foliar spray with b vitamin, helps the plant adjust to the stress, and after 2-3 days, perky and happily awaiting roots. That was the issue when I only used a cup of water, when I first started. Now, I use an ezclone and have no trouble at all, and can cut any size cutting, and they stay happy. It all depends on the method used for rooting.
-------------------- If you need any Salvia D plants/cuttings or growing advice, I can help. I also have plant tissue culture kits that are custom formulated.

Yes, verrrry nice dense growth, mine never get that dense. One of the days I'll try using my t5's on a cutting, I'm curious.
