I would not flip as you can disturb the dry verm layer that is used to help prevent contaminants in the first place. I have seen others mention to flip but only when a possible stall has occurred. I am no expert, this is just my 2 cents

Don't flip to begin with.  If you put a decent layer of verm flush with the tippy top of the jar then I don't see how it would contam.....but don't flip haha.

Thanks for the reply's! I asked this question because, the jars were flipped on account of pretty slow mycelial growth (Likely do to being in tall 1/2 pint jars, and 1/4 of the inoculation holes were to small to inoculate on 2 jars. Leaving only 3 inoculation points for those two). IF MY DRY VERM LAYER, had caught any airborne contaminants(such as mould spores) like it should. will those un-welcomed spores, in the dry verm be likely to successfully colonize, after being agitated or "stirred up"  from flipping the jars and disturbing the verm layer?

Ryejar, what isn't following to the tee? The fact that they were flipped, or that tall 1/2 pint jars were used? (Or both) lol
