I often feel I'm like.. not part of the conversation

Yeah I do.. Often I just sit and don't talk a lot, just thinking thinking and listening, it seems like I find myself thinking more interesting than other people talking.
Well I think the problem isn't really that I talk so little, merely that I think too much and therefore talk less...
It may sound very stupid and dramatic but it is true, and it isn't really a big problem. Yet sometimes (a bit too often) when someone is talking to me, my thoughts are completely somewhere else, but still I'm responding to this person like I'm listening.. The person would think I completely understand what he is saying but then I don't even know what he is talking about. This is sometimes annoying, for myself and when the person notices it!

Yeah I know what you mean about that.
What were you saying?

I used to be extremely shy. I still am somewhat. But in the past, many people would get the wrong impression of me cuz i was shy. I wouldn't talk much so they would sum up my shyness as being 'snobby' or a 'bitch'. The roomie i'm living with right now judged me in exactly that same way. She hated me cuz she thought i was a snob and that i thought i was too good to talk to her. But it was the total opposite. I thought she was cool but i was too shy to strike up a conversation.
Because of the group of friends that i have now, i've really come out of my shell. I'm alot more outgoing but i still have my shy moments.

Im the same way. For some reason I just think 87% of the population is boring. Someone would have to be talking about something I was interested in for me to join the converstaion, if not, Im out like a clock. Though it has been a problem for me in the past, I usually keep the "who gives a fuck" mentality. Some people see this as rude, but I think it's even more rude to pretend you're interested in some yapping dumbass. Keep it real.

I have the same exact thing! I can think of an example from 2 days ago, my friend was down from where he moved to for the day so we went for a walk to catch up and all, he was blabbering away for about 30 minutes and i could here him talking and all showed the signs i was listening but whe he asked me what i thought i was like "eh?" i head it but it didnt register my mind was elsewhere. Your not alone man.

I don't know you so I can't speak for your intelligence level...but maybe you should try talking to some more intellectually stimulating people. I have a hard time staying interested in a conversation unless the person I'm talking to has a functional brain.

I feel like this when i talk to some of my mates, some of them arent the brightest sparks in the bush. One comes to mind, he still acts like hes a strung up 16 year old kid at times, it drives me mad.

hmm I do this too, but have a friend who does it really badly, like he doesn't seem to register anything you say to him... incidentally he's also a genious.
