The wandering mind
    #21630488 - 05/03/15 02:48 PM (9 years, 17 days ago)

Wrote this while on a come down. Can't tell if it's decent or shit, tell me what you think

A man, after work one day, sits. And he sits and ponders and wonders about the universe. He sits and ponders and wonders about things that are, things that were, and things that ever will be.
And as he sits and ponders and  explores the farther reachings of his mind and what it has to offer, he begins to uncover some truths. Truths about nothing, truths about everything, just truths.
The immense beauty in the world, overflowing, bursting at the seams with its intricate fractal artwork.  The immense sadness in the world. The billions of humans struggling to scratch an existence into this infinitesquely huge and beautiful world. Those too poor to feed themselves or the baby that hasn't eaten for 3 days, the soul crushing sadness alongside the light blinding happiness.
And as his attention slowly begins to wane on the subject at hand,  and the ad break on TV begins to end, a dark,  twisted thought shoves it's way unbidden into his wandering mind. The man's inherent high opinion of himself, his high wage, his privileged lifestyle, is nothing when he doesn't truly know himself. A lifetime of working toward the common goal of "earning more" wasn't necessarily "more"

But before he can follow this thought any longer,  the ad break ends. Dancing with the stars is back on.
