Because Germany is not a tipping culture I usually tip 2-3 euros unless the meal was REALLY expensive.

I tip nothing because tipping is silly. This coming from a delivery driver...

I find not tipping in America akin to not wearing deodorant. You don't technically need to do it, but should. Everyone around you thinks it stinks.

One guy was telling me about this lady that lived right on the edge of the delivery map that always ordered food before closing and never tipped. He said he stuck his finger in his ass and rubbed it all over the pizza.
Don't fuck with the people that make your food...

There's a valuable lesson to be learned in that: Don't be a dick to people handling your food.
I currently deliver food for an app. We deliver any restaurant in town to where ever you want it. You pay through the app and tip as well, maybe. You finish to pay it takes you to the tip screen where you have the option of 10%, 15%, 20%, or other.
As a driver we don't know what each customer tipped. It's all added up at the end of the shift and given as a total. This way we treat every customer the same. It's a great system.
Also I make way over $100 on a Saturday, tonight will be huge because of the fight.

It's dumb fucking morons such as this that deserve to have investigative journalists set on them, who, could order food on a daily basis and not tip. Then, send the food off to a lab to be tested for saliva, fecal contaminants, DNA, the whole gamut, and charge the mother fucking idiot perpetrators with food terrorism and throw the stupid arses in prison, where, they get to eat food prepared by like minded morons.

People that fuck with others food are so sad. Just move on, you're there to make money right? So instead of wasting your time fucking with an order, just go do another one. Also if your delivering and people aren't tipping you, maybe it's because your a shitty delivery driver who wastes time spitting on food instead of doing your job.

I agree to an extent. Fucking with someones food is pretty low. But so is placing an order for a long delivery minutes before close making the driver stay an extra hour and not tipping on top of that. I wouldn't do it personally but in circumstances like that I guess I'm kinda impartial.

As a customer your last concern should be about the workers....
If a restaurant is open till 9, and I get off at 8. If I get home at 8:45, I'm gonna order and tough shit for who ever has to deliver. Also, you think a customer knows how close to the edge of the delivery zone they are? Or that they give a shit? I would say don't stay open that late and don't allow deliveries to my house.
You gotta remember this is the service industry, not the make the delivery guy happy industry. If any delivery driver want to complain they can go be a cab driver and find out how good they actually have it.
Or better yet get a job that doesn't allow you to play whatever music you want at full blast with wicked sick bass while puffin fat blunts all day, and see what's it's like for everyone else.

Or you could place a order ahead of time and have them get it there at 8:45. Placing an order right before close is a dick move because it makes everyone work late. You want a pizza right before they close... cool... place the order ahead of time and everyone is happy. Not doing so is just lazy and/or inconsiderate.

Yep. If you're actually ordering immediately before closing time you're a total cunt.

I confess that I love them. Thus, stories are small things indeed in the scheme of the universe, but it is hard not to love best what is our own—hard for me, at least."

What if you place the order too early and the pizza gets there before you do... What if you don't know what you want to eat till you get home? What if you thought you still had milk in the fridge and was gonna eat some cereal, but it's gone and the store closed so no milk? What if you had plans and they fell through? What if an unexpected guest shows up?
Refer to my previous post in regard to how much I consider the deliver driver when I'm making my order. And I myself am a delivery driver, if they want to complain they can find another job.
I could order earlier and make everyone happy. But I order pizza to make myself happy, to hell with the world when pie is involved.
If someone shows up with your attitude about having to work a little later and having to drive a little farther than he wanted, the. I would slam the door in his face with no tip and I would call his boss to complain. The driver is the face of the company and if they want to be sourpatch crybaby bitches because they are getting overtime then fuck em!

You sound like a inconsiderate cunt... just sayin. Btw I never get an attitude with people no matter how much of a cunt they are... you can't let that shit get to you when it's bound happen.
Well first of all most places you can place an order a week ahead of time to be at your door at a specific time... you don't have to guess how long it will take them to make teh pizza and deliver it... tell them a time and it will be there at that time.
And yeah there are unexpected things that arise that's understandable... if that happens 5 minutes before closing and you do decide to order a pizza atleast be courteous and leave a decent tip. Too many people consistently wait till right before close to order to teh point you know it wasn't some unexpected circumstance that made you want to order... more like they are just lazy inconsiderate fucks that were too lazy to pick up the phone and make a call till they are about to close.

As someone who has worked in a kitchen before, I've had those days where it's slow the last hour and everyone has already broken down their station for the night. Then you suddenly get that five top that walks in two minutes before closing. But if course, much to everyone's complaints, you have to seat them. It's a bitch, no one likes it, but that's what business times are for. The food might not be the best looking dish of that night, but you don't fuck with someone's food. Of course, it's going to happen with mister douche who doesn't care about his job and is probably a shitty person all around considering they can't even do their job without being a total pussy about it. Bottom line is it's your job and its not always going to be honky dory but they aren't asking you anything that's illegal or out of your job description. Stop being a fucking punk and do your job.

You make it sound like there's some big conspiracy to order food at closing, just to fuck with the drivers night.

Most restaurants that close at 9 will have a time when they stop taking deliveries like 8:30, just so they don't have to pay overtime or keep the kitchen running.
Who the fuck orders a pizza a week ahead? As if those 30 minutes aren't excruciating enough.

I don't live my life based on some percentage.
First evaluate the cut of their jib. Open up yo wallet, evaluate how much cash you have, and tip that mofo what you think they deserve.
Picked up takeout with a friend the other night and he tipped the dude at the cash register
Thought the whole point of takeout was avoiding the tip

Am I the only one who tips well? What's wrong with most of you jeeze. If someone makes a living off tips and least get them high and have a piece or send them along, but really what's like 5 bucks if you're ordering 30 bucks of food for you and your baked friends? Then you just come off as a cheap fuck, too.

It may be a stoner thing....
I also deliver medical marijuana every now and then. And with those deliveries I rarely get tipped. It's only ever by people who are much older, like 50s+

For the non tippers in this thread, all ov which i've given a poor rating to, i'd like to point out:
-Food delivery workers have the third highest rate as a civilian profession for being murdered on the job in the u.s., behind police officers and taxi drivers. This is considered a high risk profession. Besides the risk ov robbery is also the risk ov being in automobile accidents. Drivers generally drive 50-150miles per shift in mostly stop and go traffic.
-Driver reimbursement from the restaurant, if there's even one at all, is laughable when compared to the cost ov operating a vehicle. There's more than just fuel involved folks.
-The delivery charge is not a tip and it can certainly be argued that it does not go towards the driver at all. Drivers were reimbursed before delivery charges were implemented by the PIG3(pizza industrial giants ph/pj/domino's) around the turn ov the century, after which time indy shops began to follow suite. Domino's was surely one ov the first to charge a DC, brought on by their increasing legal fees after the sudden increase in accidents involving domino's drivers during the "30 minutes or less" nightmare, which caused not only overstaffing ov drivers and understaffing ov insiders to compensate for labor(increasing out the door times), but the incentive for drivers to speed at the fear ov losing their job.
-Neither i nor any driver i've ever known has messed with anyone's food. What we most certainly will do to inconsiderates though is route their orders last when going out on a multiple run, even if they ordered first. Respectful people are first priority, and we DO remember the best and the worst ov y'all despite our substance usage.
-If your food is late, it's often not the driver's fault. Insiders fuck up all the time, managers may dispatch idiotically, and sometimes runs just come in at once unexpectedly shot out all over the place. And then there's the customers who hold us up through all manner ov idiocy.
Food delivery is an extremely respectable job with an undeservingly poor reputation and level ov appreciation. If i owned a pizza shop, i'd be one ov the delivery drivers and hire a manager to run it.
