ID request. NSW south of Sydney, coastal

Habitat:
In woodchip mulch, moist area, landscaped botanical gardens. Growing out of soil and mulch.

Gills:
Light brown.

Stem:
No ring, white stem, bruised blue/purple.

Cap:
Deep gold, see pictures

Spore print color:
Waiting on spore prints, will upload photos

Bruising:
Blue/purple

Any advice or ID would be greatly appreciated :smile:

Yes, Psilocybe subaeruginosa. Check for blue bruising on every specimen before consumption.

some of those look too far gone in my opinion.  i,e the mushy ones.

Thanks for the advice Obtuse.
I will try to sort the mushy ones out but as they're all dried it might be difficult. Is it going to be bad if a couple of the mushy ones are consumed?

The mushy ones can potentially upset your stomach from bacteria and rotting.

I've gotten a sick stomach for a few days from a mushy one. Upset stools too. Get rid of the mushy ones 100%

You should use scissors to cut the stems when harvesting. That way the patch can regenerate.

I flicked each mushroom before picking and also tried to leave a few of the smaller ones in each patch. Would cutting at the bottom of the stem a better method though? I am new to harvesting.
Also are the roots and the bulb at the bottom of the stem fine for consumption?

Cut (or tear) the stems at the bottom when harvesting. If you just rip them out it pulls out the mycelium with it and fucks the patch up.
